SkyUp Airlines is a private Ukrainian airline established in June 2017. The final beneficiaries are Tetiana, Yurii, and Oleksandr Alba. The company started operating flights in May 2018.
In 2021, SkyUp Airlines operated 16,133 flights and carried 2.57 million passengers. According to UkSATSE, SkyUp took the second position among Ukrainian airlines in terms of the number of flights operated in the airspace of Ukraine. The carrier’s fleet consists of 15 medium-haul Boeing 737 aircraft, the average age of which is 14.2 years.
The carrier works on a hybrid model operating charter and scheduled flights. The flight program planned for the summer of 2022 was to cover 31 countries in Europe, the Caucasus, and the Middle East with flights from Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Odesa, and Kharkiv. The expected volume of carried passengers was to be 3.8 million people.
In March 2020, the company began to develop a cargo transportation business. From April 2020 to the end of 2021, the company has transported a total of 2,410.5 tons of cargo.
Also in 2020, the airline began to develop its handling service. In October 2021, SKY-PORT received a certificate of compliance from the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, and before the start of a full-scale invasion of russia, it was able to provide passenger services and ground administration services not only to SkyUp, but also to other airlines.
SkyUp Airlines has become one of the most dynamic airlines in Europe according to the British herald The Anker Report. The airline took the seventh line in the list of European carriers in terms of growth of the route network, having opened 93 new destinations in 2018-2019. In 2021, the airline was regarded as the best in Heart of Airspace nomination according to the Ukraine Tourism Awards 2021.
Since the start of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the airline has begun to lease its aircraft and refocused on cargo transportation to / from all major cargo airports in Europe and the world (except russia, belarus and the war zones), transportation of humanitarian cargo for Ukraine and operating the special evacuation flights.
