The draft Law, which allows the use of the EPREL database in Ukraine, has been registered The European Business Association welcomes the registration of the draft Law N10393 On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Regulation of Powers of Central Executive Authorities in the Field of Ensuring Energy Efficiency, which, among other things, amends Law N1818-IX On Energy Efficiency, in particular allows to use the database of energy-consuming products of the EU (EPREL database) in Ukraine. EBA Consumer Electronics Committee members have repeatedly emphasized the need for such legislative changes, as the use of the EPREL Database is in line with Ukraines course of integration into the EU and the recommendations of the Secretariat of the Energy Community. We would like to note that, according to the experts of the EBA Committee, this approach has a number of significant advantages, in particular (1) it meets Ukraines European integration aspirations and contributes to the approach to the EU single market; (2) will save significant resources of representatives of state bodies and businesses for the creation and maintenance of a separate Database of energy-consuming products, the work of which will lose its relevance after Ukraines accession to the EU; (3) will allow more effective monitoring of the compliance of the equipment supplied to Ukraine with the requirements of the technical regulations on eco-design and energy labeling adopted in Ukraine. Also, it is worth emphasizing that a number of new technical regulations on energy labeling have already been adopted in Ukraine, which oblige manufacturers to add energy labels to certain types of equipment, which necessarily contain a QR code that leads to a database of energy-consuming products, which according to with the current requirements of Law No.1818-IX had to be created in Ukraine. Therefore, it is critically important for manufacturers and importers of equipment that Draft Law N10393, which allows the use of the EPREL Database in Ukraine, enters into force earlier than the new technical regulations on energy labeling. Therefore, the EBA calls on representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to facilitate the adoption of Draft Law N10393 as soon as possible.
