The 82nd Day of the War: EBA HCC Pharmaceutical Community Continues to Support Ukraine

  Member companies of the Health Care Committee of the European Business Association continue to support Ukraines Healthcare System by providing humanitarian aid to the patients of Ukraine, which includes vital medicines and medical devices, as well as financial aid to charitable organizations and international foundations. Since the onset of russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, the EBA HCC pharmaceutical community, namely: Abbott, AbbVie, Adamed, Alcon, Arterium, Astellas, AstraZeneca, Bausch Health, Bayer, Berlin-Chemie, BMT Medical Technology S.R.O., Boehringer Ingelheim, Darnitsa, Egis, Farmak, Gedeon Richter, GSK, Glenmark, Johnson&Johnson, MSD, Novartis, Orion Pharma, Pfizer, Philips, Polpharma, Reckitt Benckiser, Recordati, Roche, Sandoz, Sanofi, Santen, Servier, Takeda, Teva, UСB, Wörwag Pharma provided about USD 172 million to Ukraine, which is more than UAH 5 billion 87 million. Abbott Foundation donated USD 2 million to the International Medical Corps to strengthen the infrastructure of Ukrainian pediatric hospitals. The Abbott Foundation also provided a USD 1 million grant to partner CARE for successful integration of Ukrainian refugees, mostly women and children. Total monetary donations of the Abbott Foundation reached USD 5 million. Abbott also provides medicines, cardiac devices and diabetes medications of over USD 750 thousand amount. AbbVie donated USD 1 million to the International Medical Corps and project “Hope” for providing medical care and medical consumables for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. AbbVie also provides essential medicines to the Government of Ukraine and disaster relief partners. The company doubled the amount donated by AbbVie Foundation employees to selected disaster relief partners, which are actively involved in providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Adamed provided medicines and medical devices of over PLN 4.3 million amount and is coordinating on an ongoing basis with the Polish Government, state institutions (including the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves), local governments and disaster relief organizations. In the long-term future Adamed plans to direct financial aid to priority initiatives and support partner charitable organizations for consolidating efforts. Alcon donated USD 50 thousand to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies via Alcon Foundation. The company provides the country with ophthalmic surgical materials in coordination with the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS). Alcon donated medical devices of UAH 1,303,337 amount to hospitals. The company continues to collect financial donations from partners. Arterium provided medicines of its own production in the amount of UAH 17.7 million as humanitarian aid. Astellas donated JPY 10 million to UNICEF to support the humanitarian efforts. The company also considers other charitable opportunities, including donations of essential medicines and fundraising. Astellas maintains ongoing partnerships with suppliers, distributors and key stakeholders to ensure continuous patient care. AstraZeneca contributed to Ukraine more than USD 10 million by providing the following: Humanitarian aid with medicines (innovative oncology medicines, type 2 diabetes medications, cardiovascular medications, medicines for treatment of respiratory diseases, etc.), produced by AstraZeneca in the amount of USD 3 million, transferred from company’s warehouse directly to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine via Direct Relief (international humanitarian aid partner); Medicines with the involvement of the Red Cross affiliates in neighboring countries to respond to the influx of refugees; USD 2 million to support relief organizations including project “Hope” and the International Medical Corps; Over USD 500 thousand, which were donated by AstraZeneca employees worldwide and designated to UNICEF and the Red Cross. The company doubled the employees’ contributions to the amount of USD 1 million. Bausch Health is committed to support victims of the war in Ukraine. The company is partnering with Global Giving non-profit organization in creating a microsite where employees make monetary donations to support the Ukrainians. Bausch Health supplies its medicines and medical devices to Ukrainian hospitals. A significant part of humanitarian aid is aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees abroad. Bayer keeps supporting the population of Ukraine since the beginning of the russian invasion. The company contributed EUR 10 million to the following: EUR 3 million were donated to support the needs of Ukrainians, a part of amount was provided in the form of 30 thousand doses of antibiotics, 1 ton of sterile medical materials and different types of medications; EUR 1 million was donated by Bayer employees from all over the world, who expressed their solidarity with Ukraine; UAH 31 million in the form of medicines was provided at the request of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Cancer Institute; UAH 300 thousand (in the form of clothes, towels, power banks and other necessary things) upon request of charitable foundation Tvoya Opora were handed over to the patients of M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery and a hospital in Chernihiv; UAH 1,6 million were donated to charitable foundation Kharkiv With You to support the residents of Kharkiv and nearby settlements with basic hygiene products and food; Medicines for treatment of skin diseases and vitamins were provided as humanitarian aid to 206 children upon the request of charitable foundation “The SOS Childrens Village”, which takes care of orphans and children deprived of parental care. Berlin-Chemie total charitable contribution exceeds EUR 1 million. The company donated EUR 420 thousand to the Red Cross and company’s employees worldwide donated almost EUR 60 thousand. BMT MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY S.R.O. charitable contribution is about EUR 100 thousand. The company provided targeted aid directly to the Ukrainian hospitals upon their needs and transferred large-scale sterilization equipment. Boehringer Ingelheim donated EUR 2.5 million to charitable organizations, which provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine and its citizens. Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation provided over 14 thousand units of medicines of USD 5 million amount, specified for urgent needs by internal partners, including the Kharkiv City Council and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. In the nearest future the company plans to donate 12 monthly payments of EUR 1 million amount to Polish and German Red Cross organizations. An additional initiative by Boehringer Ingelheim is to consider the possibility of air transportation of cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory medicines from the United States to Poland with further truck delivery to the Ukrainian border for the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and NGOs. Darnitsa provided 600 thousand medicine packages to medical institutions and volunteer organizations, that help Ukrainian military and civilian citizens. Medicines, produced by Darnitsa with a total value of UAH 26.6 million were donated to the Main Military Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No.17, National Heart Institute, Okhmatdyt, Transcarpathian Territorial Center for Emergency Medical Care, charitable foundations “Come Back Alive” and “Tabletochki”, Zhytomyr City Council, Kozelets Intensive Care Hospital, military units. The company imported and handed over 10 thousand packages of strategic hemostatic to hospitals, TRO and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Darnitsa resumed the production of strategically important medicine categories for the country and the Armed Forces of Ukraine such as: infusion solutions, ointments, tablets. The company employees with a pharmaceutical education were sent as volunteer pharmacists to help pharmacy chains. Egis in Hungary donated USD 590 232 to the patients of Ukraine. The company supplied the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with antiseptics, antidepressants, antimicrobials, cardiological medications and other medicines for emergency care in the amount of USD 10 thousand. The company offered further humanitarian aid of HUF 100 million and planned additional supplies of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Farmak and the Zhebrovsky Family Charitable Foundation have been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the first days of the war in 2014. Medical equipment, protective structures, bulletproof vests, first aid kits and medicines were purchased and transferred before and after the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian occupiers. The total amount of humanitarian aid to medical institutions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, territorial defense, and citizens amounted to UAH 5.8 million. Moreover, since the first days of invasion Farmak has been providing logistics assistance to the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Gedeon Richter donated HUF 10 million to the Charity Service of the Order of Malta and HUF 10 million to the charity initiative of the Hungarian public television Jónak lenni jó (How good to be good). The company provided humanitarian pharmaceutical aid from deliveries at a customs warehouse in Ukraine. GlaxoSmithKline donated GBP 3.25 million to the Red Cross and humanitarian organization “Save the Children”, and GBP 250 thousand to company Crown Agents Ltd for funding of 2.5 thousand first aid kits required by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. WHO antiretrovirals were donated through ViiV Healthcare GSK to the national AIDS programs and nonprofit partners to support conflict-affected children and adults with HIV. ViiV also contributed GBP 200 thousand via GlaxoSmithKline Affirmative Action programme. The company provided over 500 thousand units of medicines and consumer products, including antibiotics, asthma medications, epilepsy medications and painkillers. GlaxoSmithKline employees worldwide donated over GBP 300 thousand to support organization “Save the Children” and the Red Cross. Glenmark joined the humanitarian efforts and donated USD 350 thousand. The company provided 6.5 tons of medicines from Glenmark Europe Team. Glenmark plans to continue supplying medicines from India to help the patients of Ukraine. Johnson&Johnson donated USD 10 million to support the work of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies to provide humanitarian aid to refugees in neighboring countries. The company provided hygiene kits, medical bags and medical devices. Johnson&Johnson cooperates with global health partners: International Health Partners (IHP, UK), Americares (USA), Direct Relief (USA), IFRC, Save the Children and UNICEF to support Ukrainians in the regions by granting them access to the network supply chain. Johnson&Johnson launched an unlimited collection program for global employees from the Global Giving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. MSD contributed over USD 65 million as humanitarian aid. USD 1 million was donated to the American Red Cross, Direct Relief, the International Medical Corps and project “Hope” to provide emergency assistance to victims in the regions. The company delivers expensive medicines to Ukrainian citizens and refugees for the treatment of asthma, infections and oncological diseases. MSD provided animal vaccines from Merck Animal Health to Ukrainian farmers to support continued livestock and food production. Novartis joined humanitarian efforts and contributed USD 3 million to three humanitarian organizations: the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Charitable Foundation “Save the Children” and the International Rescue Committee. The company is expanding its humanitarian activities by providing warehouse stocks of medicines within Ukraine, in particular, essential antibiotics and painkillers, as well as other products for medical institutions. In total the company provided about 600 thousand packages of medicines. Novartis in Ukraine is represented by Sandoz Ukraine LLC and Novartis Pharma Services AG. Orion Pharma donated EUR 51 thousand to the Finnish Red Cross to help victims of the war in Ukraine. Pfizer initiated a number of humanitarian events to increase the support of Ukraine. The Pfizer Foundation provided a USD 1 million humanitarian grant to organizations operating in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, including: The American Red Cross to support ambulance crews and medical facilities in provision of medicines and medical equipment; The International Medical Corps to support operational emergency and primary health care services; The International Rescue Committee to support efforts in border countries to mobilize resources. The Ukraine Humanitarian Disaster Relief Campaign launched to enable all Pfizer employees to provide charitable aid to the key organizations, that help victims of the conflict in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Pfizer provided emergency humanitarian aid to military hospitals and clinics upon request, as well as directed medicines to patients suffering from chronic diseases (R&D, cancer and cardiovascular diseases). The total aid amounted to USD  2 million. Philips undertook major efforts to help the victims of russian aggression in the following areas: Aid to Hospitals - The Philips Foundation provided a 20-bed mobile hospital with essential medical equipment, including 20 patient monitors, 22 oxygen concentrates, 7 ventilators, mobile diagnostic x-rays, defibrillators, electrocardiographs and 5 portable diagnostic ultrasound devices, which will be installed to provide treatment to the population in a damaged medical infrastructure; Emergency Care Support - 74 Philips portable ultrasound diagnostic devices, 5 mobile diagnostic X-ray devices, 35 patient monitors and defibrillators provided to government agencies and volunteer organizations in Ukraine for further distribution to mobile medical teams and medical institutions; Assistance for the needy - Philips Avent household appliances and other products (breast pumps, sterilizers, bottles, pacifiers and milk storage bags) were provided to organizations: TRO, hospitals, volunteer organizations; Financial support and essential supplies for Ukrainian refugees - financial support to victims and refugees in Ukraine and on the Romanian and Polish borders was provided via charitable and humanitarian organizations, as well as support to mothers and children with respiratory equipment, patient monitors and portable ultrasound diagnostic devices for use in special medical tents in border areas; Employee Donation Program – an opportunity for Philips employees from all countries to join fund collection for victims in Ukraine and on its borders via Philips Fund was provi Polpharma also joined the humanitarian efforts and initially provided 350 thousand packages of medicines (antibiotics and emergency medications such as morphine, fentanyl, midazolam, adrenaline, etc.) amounted to USD 1.5 million. The humanitarian aid was initiated by tripartite cooperation of Polpharma Z.F. management, the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves in Poland and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Polpharma Group plans additional production of morphine, fentanyl, antibiotics and pediatric drugs at Polpharma plants in Poland. The total amount of company’s humanitarian aid from Poland to Ukraine exceeded 1 million packages of medicines for a value of over USD 3.1 million. Reckitt Benckiser donated GBP 1 million through the Red Cross and provided humanitarian aid with Reckitt Benckiser products for a value of GBP 1 million. The company employees are also involved in volunteer initiatives. Recordati contributed UAH 1.7 million to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and hospitals. The company employees also joined the volunteer initiatives in sorting out humanitarian aid. Roche directed humanitarian aid to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with medicines and medical devices, namely: Reagents and consumables for HIV, HCV, HBV and syphilis automated testing to make 120 thousand blood donations and ensure essentil supply of safe blood and blood components; 31,000 units of pharmaceutical products for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, including blood glucose monitoring and puncture systems; 4600 packages of medicines for the treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal muscular atrophy and influenza. Roche undertook an additional commitment to provide 150 thousand packages of antibiotics for various types of bacterial infections. 75 thousand packages of antibiotics were delivered to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The company created a special program - Ukrainian Refugee Continuity of Care (UREFCON) to provide continuous care to Ukrainian displaced patients. Roche also created a global hotline for patients treated in Ukraine, who participated in clinical trials or program Compassionate Medicines (tel: +36 146 182 58, WhatsApp and SMS: +36 707 177 394; e-mail: [email protected]) to sustain the therapy. A separate global support program was developed by company for patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The program provides uninterrupted access to treatment for all patients in Ukraine and abroad. Sanofi has been closely cooperating with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine since the first days of the war and has been providing vital medicines to the regions of Ukraine on total amount of EUR 21 million. EUR 5 million were donated to the Red Cross in Ukraine and neighboring European countries, directed to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Sanofi coordinates and provides essential medicines and vaccines to support Ukrainian patients and refugees, namely: 10.5 million single doses of insulin, antiepileptic drugs, emergency medicines to treat 360 thousand patients; 30 million doses to treat 20.5 million patients daily; 300 thousand diphtheria and tetanus vaccines. Sanofi employees contributed EUR 180 thousand, that were doubled by the company. Santen joined the global humanitarian efforts and donated EUR 23,683 to support Ukraine. Servier provided a financial support to local organizations in the amount of EUR 1.5 million. The company also provides assistance with first aid kits and medicines. Medicines produced by Servier were provided to more than 15 hospitals in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Bucha, Brovary, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Berdyansk, Melitopol, Pologi, Chernihiv region. The company actively cooperates with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and directed 10 thousand packages of medicines for continuous glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Servier established the Solidarity Fund of Ukraine. An executive committee doubles the contributions of companys employees. Takeda contributed JPY 300 million (approximately USD 2.6 million) to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for emergency humanitarian on-site support for the victims of russian aggression. The company transferred UAH 400 thousand to the Ukrainian Red Cross and provided medicines to hospitals. Takeda employees make donations to several local and global NGOs. Teva provided charitable assistance with essential medicines in the amount of USD 11 million. The company shipped over 1.3 million packages of medicines - antibiotics and other medicines included in the WHO list of essential medicines, as well as products for Ukrainian infants and children suffering from unfavorable sanitary and hygienic conditions. Teva provided more than 350 thousand packages of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the amount of USD 756 thousand . UСB contributed EUR 300 thousand to the International Rescue Committee and the Belgian Red Cross. The company delivered 5 thousand antiepileptic medicines and 5 thousand antiallergic medicines via Tulipe to help the Ukrainian patients. Wörwag Pharma provided humanitarian aid in the amount of UAH 650 thousand for the purchase of essential medicines. The company directed medicines through Ukrainian Charitable Organization for a value of EUR 60 thousand. Wörwag Pharma also donated EUR 100 thousand through German Charitable Foundation. The EBA Health Care Committee expresses its gratitude to the member companies for their incredible efforts in ensuring continuous supply of medicines and medical devices to Ukrainian patients in these difficult times and providing substantial humanitarian support. We are very proud of initiatives implemented! Commitment to patients is the highest priority of the medical and pharmaceutical community, and in times of war and terrible events in Ukraine, this priority is to be maintained and increased. Egis in Hungary donated USD 590 232 to the patients of Ukraine. The company supplied the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with antiseptics, antidepressants, antimicrobials, cardiological medications and other medicines for emergency care in the amount of USD 10 thousand. The company offered further humanitarian aid of HUF 100 million and planned additional supplies of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Farmak and the Zhebrovsky Family Charitable Foundation have been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the first days of the war in 2014. Medical equipment, protective structures, bulletproof vests, first aid kits and medicines were purchased and transferred before and after the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian occupiers. The total amount of humanitarian aid to medical institutions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, territorial defense, and citizens amounted to UAH 5.8 million. Moreover, since the first days of invasion Farmak has been providing logistics assistance to the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Gedeon Richter donated HUF 10 million to the Charity Service of the Order of Malta and HUF 10 million to the charity initiative of the Hungarian public television “Jónak lenni jó” (“How good to be good”). The company provided humanitarian pharmaceutical aid from deliveries at a customs warehouse in Ukraine.

GlaxoSmithKline donated GBP 3.25 million to the Red Cross and humanitarian organization “Save the Children”, and GBP 250 thousand to company Crown Agents Ltd for funding of 2.5 thousand first aid kits required by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. WHO antiretrovirals were donated through ViiV Healthcare GSK to the national AIDS programs and nonprofit partners to support conflict-affected children and adults with HIV. ViiV also contributed GBP 200 thousand via GlaxoSmithKline Affirmative Action programme. The company provided over 500 thousand units of medicines and consumer products, including antibiotics, asthma medications, epilepsy medications and painkillers. GlaxoSmithKline employees worldwide donated over GBP 300 thousand to support organization “Save the Children” and the Red Cross.

Glenmark joined the humanitarian efforts and donated USD 350 thousand. The company provided 6.5 tons of medicines from Glenmark Europe Team. Glenmark plans to continue supplying medicines from India to help the patients of Ukraine.

Johnson&Johnson donated USD 10 million to support the work of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies to provide humanitarian aid to refugees in neighboring countries. The company provided hygiene kits, medical bags and medical devices. Johnson&Johnson cooperates with global health partners: International Health Partners (IHP, UK), Americares (USA), Direct Relief (USA), IFRC, Save the Children and UNICEF to support Ukrainians in the regions by granting them access to the network supply chain. Johnson&Johnson launched an unlimited collection program for global employees from the Global Giving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.

MSD contributed over USD 65 million as humanitarian aid. USD 1 million was donated to the American Red Cross, Direct Relief, the International Medical Corps and project “Hope” to provide emergency assistance to victims in the regions. The company delivers expensive medicines to Ukrainian citizens and refugees for the treatment of asthma, infections and oncological diseases. MSD provided animal vaccines from Merck Animal Health to Ukrainian farmers to support continued livestock and food production.

Novartis joined humanitarian efforts and contributed USD 3 million to three humanitarian organizations: the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Charitable Foundation “Save the Children” and the International Rescue Committee. The company is expanding its humanitarian activities by providing warehouse stocks of medicines within Ukraine, in particular, essential antibiotics and painkillers, as well as other products for medical institutions. In total the company provided about 600 thousand packages of medicines.

Novartis in Ukraine is represented by Sandoz Ukraine LLC and Novartis Pharma Services AG.

Orion Pharma donated EUR 51 thousand to the Finnish Red Cross to help victims of the war in Ukraine.

Pfizer initiated a number of humanitarian events to increase the support of Ukraine. The Pfizer Foundation provided a USD 1 million humanitarian grant to organizations operating in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, including:

  • The American Red Cross to support ambulance crews and medical facilities in provision of medicines and medical equipment;
  • The International Medical Corps to support operational emergency and primary health care services;
  • The International Rescue Committee to support efforts in border countries to mobilize resources.

The Ukraine Humanitarian Disaster Relief Campaign launched to enable all Pfizer employees to provide charitable aid to the key organizations, that help victims of the conflict in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Pfizer provided emergency humanitarian aid to military hospitals and clinics upon request, as well as directed medicines to patients suffering from chronic diseases (R&D, cancer and cardiovascular diseases). The total aid amounted to USD  2 million.

Philips undertook major efforts to help the victims of russian aggression in the following areas:

  • Aid to Hospitals – The Philips Foundation provided a 20-bed mobile hospital with essential medical equipment, including 20 patient monitors, 22 oxygen concentrates, 7 ventilators, mobile diagnostic x-rays, defibrillators, electrocardiographs and 5 portable diagnostic ultrasound devices, which will be installed to provide treatment to the population in a damaged medical infrastructure;
  • Emergency Care Support74 Philips portable ultrasound diagnostic devices, 5 mobile diagnostic X-ray devices, 35 patient monitors and defibrillators provided to government agencies and volunteer organizations in Ukraine for further distribution to mobile medical teams and medical institutions;
  • Assistance for the needy – Philips Avent household appliances and other products (breast pumps, sterilizers, bottles, pacifiers and milk storage bags) were provided to organizations: TRO, hospitals, volunteer organizations;
  • Financial support and essential supplies for Ukrainian refugees – financial support to victims and refugees in Ukraine and on the Romanian and Polish borders was provided via charitable and humanitarian organizations, as well as support to mothers and children with respiratory equipment, patient monitors and portable ultrasound diagnostic devices for use in special medical tents in border areas;
  • Employee Donation Program – an opportunity for Philips employees from all countries to join fund collection for victims in Ukraine and on its borders via Philips Fund was provi

Polpharma also joined the humanitarian efforts and initially provided 350 thousand packages of medicines (antibiotics and emergency medications such as morphine, fentanyl, midazolam, adrenaline, etc.) amounted to USD 1.5 million. The humanitarian aid was initiated by tripartite cooperation of Polpharma Z.F. management, the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves in Poland and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Polpharma Group plans additional production of morphine, fentanyl, antibiotics and pediatric drugs at Polpharma plants in Poland. The total amount of company’s humanitarian aid from Poland to Ukraine exceeded 1 million packages of medicines for a value of over USD 3.1 million.

Reckitt Benckiser donated GBP 1 million through the Red Cross and provided humanitarian aid with Reckitt Benckiser products for a value of GBP 1 million. The company employees are also involved in volunteer initiatives.

Recordati contributed UAH 1.7 million to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and hospitals. The company employees also joined the volunteer initiatives in sorting out humanitarian aid.

Roche directed humanitarian aid to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with medicines and medical devices, namely:

  • Reagents and consumables for HIV, HCV, HBV and syphilis automated testing to make 120 thousand blood donations and ensure essentil supply of safe blood and blood components;
  • 31,000 units of pharmaceutical products for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, including blood glucose monitoring and puncture systems;
  • 4600 packages of medicines for the treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal muscular atrophy and influenza.

Roche undertook an additional commitment to provide 150 thousand packages of antibiotics for various types of bacterial infections. 75 thousand packages of antibiotics were delivered to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The company created a special program – Ukrainian Refugee Continuity of Care (UREFCON) to provide continuous care to Ukrainian displaced patients. Roche also created a global hotline for patients treated in Ukraine, who participated in clinical trials or program “Compassionate Medicines” (tel: +36 146 182 58, WhatsApp and SMS: +36 707 177 394; e-mail: [email protected]) to sustain the therapy. A separate global support program was developed by company for patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The program provides uninterrupted access to treatment for all patients in Ukraine and abroad.

Sanofi has been closely cooperating with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine since the first days of the war and has been providing vital medicines to the regions of Ukraine on total amount of EUR 21 million. EUR 5 million were donated to the Red Cross in Ukraine and neighboring European countries, directed to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Sanofi coordinates and provides essential medicines and vaccines to support Ukrainian patients and refugees, namely: 10.5 million single doses of insulin, antiepileptic drugs, emergency medicines to treat 360 thousand patients; 30 million doses to treat 20.5 million patients daily; 300 thousand diphtheria and tetanus vaccines. Sanofi employees contributed EUR 180 thousand, that were doubled by the company.

Santen joined the global humanitarian efforts and donated EUR 23,683 to support Ukraine.

Servier provided a financial support to local organizations in the amount of EUR 1.5 million. The company also provides assistance with first aid kits and medicines. Medicines produced by Servier were provided to more than 15 hospitals in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Bucha, Brovary, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Berdyansk, Melitopol, Pologi, Chernihiv region. The company actively cooperates with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and directed 10 thousand packages of medicines for continuous glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Servier established the Solidarity Fund of Ukraine. An executive committee doubles the contributions of company’s employees.

Takeda contributed JPY 300 million (approximately USD 2.6 million) to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for emergency humanitarian on-site support for the victims of russian aggression. The company transferred UAH 400 thousand to the Ukrainian Red Cross and provided medicines to hospitals. Takeda employees make donations to several local and global NGOs.

Teva provided charitable assistance with essential medicines in the amount of USD 11 million. The company shipped over 1.3 million packages of medicinesantibiotics and other medicines included in the WHO list of essential medicines, as well as products for Ukrainian infants and children suffering from unfavorable sanitary and hygienic conditions. Teva provided more than 350 thousand packages of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the amount of USD 756 thousand .

UСB contributed EUR 300 thousand to the International Rescue Committee and the Belgian Red Cross. The company delivered 5 thousand antiepileptic medicines and 5 thousand antiallergic medicines via Tulipe to help the Ukrainian patients.

Wörwag Pharma provided humanitarian aid in the amount of UAH 650 thousand for the purchase of essential medicines. The company directed medicines through Ukrainian Charitable Organization for a value of EUR 60 thousand. Wörwag Pharma also donated EUR 100 thousand through German Charitable Foundation.

We are very proud of initiatives implemented!
