Meeting of the Subsoil Use Committee of the ЕВА

    On 12 November, the European Business Association’s Subsoil Use Committee held a hybrid-format meeting to discuss the prospects of introducing various types of incentives that could be applied to the sector. Vitalii Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine; Dmytroputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development; and Viktor Halasiuk, economist and author of the Economic Engineering course, participated in the meeting Kysylevskyi, De. Is it possible to implement economic engineering in subsoil use? How can holders of special permits for subsoil use obtain support and assistance from the state while creating products with high-added value? These and other questions were the focus of the meeting. In particular, there was a discussion on the potential of industrial parks and the role of companies engaged in mineral processing and enrichment within such spaces. Participants highlighted the possibility of adapting the industrial park concept for subsoil use and subsequent mineral processing (enrichment) purposes. The application of a most-favoured-nation status to projects in the extraction sector was also seen as important. The participants agreed that, in line with the fourth point of the Victory Plan, Ukraine should implement a package of measures to stimulate the processing of critical materials. The participants agreed to hold further discussions among Committee members and to formulate an official position on the issues discussed.
