Updates on the energy front of Ukraine. The first week of May

  Ukraine continues to hold the fort on the 76th day of the war and business continues not only to work to provide businesses and individuals with the necessary services, but also to eliminate damages. Learn how the gas and energy sectors work during the week of May 2-8 here: Oil and gas sector Despite the constant shelling, JSC Donetskoblgaz continues to take care of the gas networks of Donetsk region and repair damage where possible. In many places, the shelling is so intense that it is impossible to inspect the networks. Preparations for mass repairs are underway. Two powerful industrial enterprises have shut down due to critical destruction. The emergency service of JSC Donetskoblgaz worked side by side with the staff, supporting their work till the end. During the week, employees were forced to cut off four settlements, two gas distribution stations, 4,288 private houses, and 7,533 apartments due to damaged networks. At the same time, the gas supply to 562 private houses and 1,576 apartments was restored. Naftogaz Trading LLC continues to supply gas regularly to its customers. During the week, the companys customers reduced the use of natural gas by 37.4. Naftogaz Ukraine Gas Supply Company is postponing the introduction of the kilowatt-hour transition in gas payments (according to the order of the Ministry of Energy of April 30, 2022, № 169). All digital services of Naftogaz Ukraine are fully available to their customers. The contact center receives calls from all over Ukraine around the clock. Almost 12,000 calls were processed during the week. Despite the air alarms, Naftogaz Teplo LLC (Novoyavorivsk and Novorozdil CHPs, Lviv Region) is operating normally. The preparation of equipment (thermal power plants and heating networks) for the new heating season is underway. Ukrtransgaz underground storage facilities remain under high security and continue to operate as usual. A series of training for employees has started at Ukrtransgaz industrial sites. During classes, gasmen learn the basic rules and principles of first aid.   JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya continues to steadily produce gas at all its facilities, except for those near the line of contact. JSC Ukrtransnafta and JSC Ukrspetstransgaz continue to work as usual under martial law. OJSC Kirovogradgaz operates as usual.  Natural gas market 215,004 consumers remain without gas supply as of May 9, 2022. The Regional Gas Company has already allocated UAH 200 million for the reconstruction of infrastructure. Totally, up to 130,000 households in Kyiv oblast have re-established gas distribution: in 117 settlements - completely, in one - partially. The gas has returned to 53% of Irpin consumers! Repair and restoration works are also underway in Moshchun, Gostomel community. Demining is still going on in the village of Pochepyn, Makariv community. In the last two months, nine gas distribution companies operating under the RGC brand have resumed gas distribution to more than 308,000 customers, and returned 370 gas distribution points and 799 cabinet gas control points. RGC Production gas equipment is used to restore gas distribution in deoccupied areas. In four months of 2022, modern automated plants RGC Production produced 548 closed-circuit gas-regulating stations and 105 gas-metering units. Gas distribution companies in the occupied territories are now monitoring the dynamics of gas consumption by household and commercial consumers. Depending on the new consumption levels, decisions will be made about the need for gas equipment. After all, many businesses and households have been destroyed. Since the war, Chernihivgaz specialists have returned gas distribution to more than 60,000 households. Restore the distribution of gas to only one house, because the other is destroyed, are the realities of the work of Chernihiv gas companies, which are now bringing the region back to life. In the village of Staryi Bykiv, gas workers repaired a 25-meter gas pipeline crossing the pond and built new supports for it. Since the beginning of the invasion, Kharkiv gas companies in the region and the city have resumed natural gas supplies to 115,000 consumers. Ukrainian defenders liberate settlements from the occupiers under fierce fire. At once the gasmen of JSC Kharkivgaz are working for the heroic Armed Forces and sappers and resuming gas supply! Specialists of JSC Kharkivgaz carried out works on the restoration of gas distribution networks in the village of Mala Rohan. Another 500 households received natural gas in Cherkaska Lozova. The day before, gas returned to the homes of Rohani and Khroliv residents. Restoration work continues in Balaklia. Employees of JSC Kharkivgaz rebuild critical infrastructure facilities daily and without days off.  Electricity Last week the light was returned to 115,000 houses affected by the fighting in Kyiv, Donetsk, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. During the week of May 2-8, DTEK Grids emergency teams returned light to more than 8,000 homes in the Kyiv region affected by the fighting. Every day, power engineers repaired power grids in these settlements and turned on the lights for 8,405 families in the region. In total, since April 3, when the Kyiv region was liberated from the occupiers, more than 90% of all houses left without electricity due to russian invaders have now regained the light. The light is now available to more than 140 thousand families. The difficult situation with the power supply persists in the Donetsk region. Over the past week, the intensity of shelling, so the level of damage to power grids has increased accordingly. The most difficult directions are Lymansky, Avdiyivsky, Maryinsky, Toretsky, Bakhmut and Velykonovosilkivsky. DTEK Power Engineers Donetsk Electric Networks is doing everything possible to return light to all residents of the region as soon as possible. Electricity supply was partially restored in 126 settlements in the Donetsk region. The situation with enemy shelling in the Odessa region has significantly worsened in the last week. More than 21,000 residents of the Odesa Region were left without electricity due to the fighting. Electricians of DTEK Odessa Electric Grids managed to restore power supply to 13,875 families in 25 settlements in less than 2 hours. Work on the restoration of electricity supply continues to return the light to another 7401 households in 5 settlements. The shelling continued in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Power engineers promptly restored almost 2,000 families in the Kryvyi Rih district bordering the Kherson region.
