EBA Expert Talks: “Challenges in HR during quarantine: people or profit?”

03/ 04/ 2020
On April 3, 2020, at the EBA Expert Talks: Challenges in HR during quarantine: people or profit? experts admitted that people are the most important today. However, the businessmen are in a very complicated situation. They need to find a balance between social responsibility and cost-effectiveness. Thus their decisions are inconvenient and sometimes very sharp. Taras Yurynts, Director at Guldmann Ukraine, Olena Skyba, Kredobank HR Director, and Natalia Anokhina, Senior Associate at Arzinger law firm, attorney at law, talked about the challenges which appeared in the Human Resources sphere. The experts recommendations are the following: The psychological state of the person is very important. It is necessary to realize that the situation is new, and no one knows how to react to it adequately. Its stressful and everyone handles it on their own. In this situation, you need to understand what your range of influence is and act accordingly. Today the director must think about how to survive and keep all key people at the company. The communication between management and employees is very crucial. The HR manager must find a balance between all business process players, re-plan workflows, organize retraining when possible, and figure out how to help those employees who are unable to get to the workplace on their own. Employees, regardless of whether they are working from home or office, should have precise tasks to understand what kind of results the management expects from them. The management should regularly monitor the Cabinet of Ministries of Ukraine and local government webpages to know about the new regulations. As the lawmaker does not give a clear understanding of the procedures for dismissal, payroll, reduction of working hours, registration of hospital sheets in the new rules, the management should contact the Employment Center of Ukraine and the State Labor Committee of Ukraine for official clarifications. The scheduled inspections are forbidden during the quarantine. Nevertheless, the checks can be carried out by police and local officials in compliance with quarantine rules. The police formalize a report, the court assigns a decision. Despite the difficult situation today we should stay optimistic, make balanced decisions and comply with quarantine rules. The main thing today is the health of each of us!
