Webinar “Prudential Requirements for Investment Firms (IFR, IFD)”

On December 14, 2023, the EU Council decided to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, which necessitated further adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU law. In particular, the financial sector is extremely important, where attention has always been paid to the early detection of problems in financial institutions, risk assessment and compliance with prudential standards brought in line with the requirements of EU acts.

During this webinar, we will address the following issues:

  • What changes did the IFR Regulation and the IFD Directive make to the system of prudential supervision of financial institutions and why is it important for Ukraine?
  • IFR Regulation as the Law of Ukraine: what should be done to avoid despair?
  • Mitigating prudential requirements for small and interconnected investment firms: is it possible to amend the laws of Ukraine now?
  • Liquidity requirements for investment firms: how do they differ from those applicable in Ukraine?
  • What are K-factors as a type of prudential standards?
  • Concentration risk: how to assess?
  • Disclosure requirements for investment firms: what is new in IFR?
  • Which IFR and IFD standards can be revised and what should we do to make it happen?

The event is organized with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and the European Union within the framework of the joint initiative “European Renaissance of Ukraine.” The material represents the position of the authors and does not necessarily reflect the position of the International Renaissance Foundation and the European Union.
