Consumer Electronics

04/ 02/ 2022
Procedure for Warranty Repair or Replacement of consumer electronics will be updated The European Business Association welcomes the publication of the relevant draft Government Resolution. The EBA has long supported the idea of updating Government Resolution 506 on the procedure for warranty repairs in order to bring the latter in line with modern needs of business and consumers in the field of warranty service for household appliances and electronics. In particular, we supported the idea of digitalization of the sphere and the provision of opportunities for the issuance of warranty and operational documents in electronic form. The first step towards this was the adoption last year of the Law №1603-IX, which allowed the issuance of warranty cards in electronic form and was actively supported by the EBA. At the same time, in order for this norm to work in full, it is necessary to update the Procedure for warranty repair, approved by Resolution №506. After all, its current wording needs to be significantly updated in accordance with real business processes. For example, the repair procedure not only does not provide for the issuance of warranty cards in electronic form, but also does not provide a definition of diagnostics, service center, does not provide the ability to send goods for warranty repair by mail, requires obsolete forms, etc. Therefore, the EBA addressed the Ministry of Economy with a proposal to develop a new version of the warranty repair procedure as soon as possible, and experts of the EBA Consumer Electronics Committee held a series of working meetings with representatives of the Ministry to develop a new document. Therefore, the European Business Association is grateful to the Ministry of Economy for constructive cooperation and publication of a draft resolution on the Procedure for warranty repair or replacement of consumer electronics.
