ЕВА appealed to the Ministry of Health regarding clinical trials

17/ 04/ 2020
As stated on the official website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as of April 10, 2020, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is ready to join the global clinical trial of Solidarity WHO aimed at finding an effective treatment for COVID-19. It is known that more than 90 countries are working together to promptly develop effective drugs during clinical trials to fight the pandemic. According to the experts of the European Business Association, Ukraines participation in WHO Solidarity global clinical trials is a unique opportunity for the country. Firstly, Ukrainian medical experts will gain experience in COVID-19 treatment. Secondly, this experience can be used immediately to combat the COVID-19 epidemic in Ukraine. Thirdly, conducting trials in Ukraine will reduce the financial burden on the national health care system (free testing and treatment of patients, reimbursement of hospital costs, etc.) and provide other co-benefits. Therefore, the European Business Association addresses an official letter to the Ministry of Health and urges to facilitate Ukraine’s participation in the WHO Solidarity global clinical trial. In its turn, EBA Clinical Trials Subcommittee emphasizes its willingness to provide expert assistance to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, within its competence and operational capacity.
