Business met with the Minister of Health and the Head of the Parliamentary Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Health Insurance

19/ 08/ 2024
Last week, representatives of the pharmaceutical business community met with the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Care, and Health Insurance, Mr. Mykhailo Radutskyi, and the Minister of Health, Mr. Viktor Liashko. During the meeting, the manager of the Healthcare Committee of the European Business Association, Olena Sytenok, raised issues that concern the industry. Specifically, the following: The timing of the enactment of the Law of Ukraine On Medicinal Products dated July 28, 2022. It is crucial to establish a final implementation date for the Law through a regulatory act, as this will help understand the pace of processing the by-laws and planning business processes within companies. The creation of a new regulatory body in the pharmaceutical sector—a state control body—envisioned by the new Law. The business community supports the Governments idea of establishing such a body from scratch, without reformatting or merging existing state institutions. Additionally, the business community believes that a key component in establishing the state control body on the principles of transparency and accountability is the introduction of a competitive selection process for the head of the structure, as well as for other staff positions. Improving the procedure for recognizing GMP certificates issued by authorized bodies of countries with strict regulatory policies. Since no additional recognition procedure exists in the European Union among member countries, the companies within the Association believe it is essential to improve this procedure in Ukraine or completely abandon it now, before the new Law of Ukraine On Medicinal Products comes into force and before Ukraine joins the EU. The business community expresses sincere gratitude to Mr. Mykhailo Borysovych and Mr. Viktor Kyrylovych for a constructive, open dialogue and a willingness to hear the needs of businesses. Additionally, following the proposal of Mr. Viktor Kyrylovych, it was agreed to hold such meetings quarterly.
