Adocacy achievements of the week

  This week, the EBA community has much good news to share with you. Thus, we had the opportunity to meet with government officials at various levels and came to important decisions for the community. So, our 9 achievements this week are related to the IT industry, energy, consumer electronics, animal health, tax policy, and the work of business in general. So, in brief: Business met with the President of Ukraine The highlight of the week was the EBA community meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. We focused our discussion on the issues of security and the economy so that the business community has a full picture of what is happening inside and outside Ukraines borders, and what are the plans for the economic development of Ukraine. Business discussed key issues with the Ministry of Economy and the Servant of the People Party Also, the EBA met with Yulia Svyrydenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy, and Olena Shuliak, the Chairperson of the Servant of the People Party. The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects of economic development, taxes and fiscal pressure, the need to combat the shadow economy, the renewal of the Labor Code, and other sectoral issues. Ukraine officially launched the preferential tax regime for IT companies  This week, there was the launch of Diia.City, a special legal and tax regime to stimulate the development of the IT industry. Representatives of the EBA IT community were closely involved in the development of this powerful initiative. In cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, we managed to outline attractive conditions not only for Ukrainian but also foreign IT companies. In the three days since the launch, more than 50 companies have applied to join Diia.City, including members of the Association. Draft laws with the negative effect on the natural gas market were returned for revision Business welcomes the decision of the VRU Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities of February 8 to return draft Laws on the Natural Gas Market № 6426, 6426-1 for revision. We thank the Committee and its Chairman, Andriy Gerus, for hearing the voice of business. Earlier, businesses expressed concern about changes provided in the draft laws. Thus, it was proposed to introduce state regulation of natural gas prices, which could completely change the rules of operation of the natural gas sector and rollback the market reform which was conducted in line with European standards. Business met with representatives of the Kyiv Tax Service The meeting took place on the platform of the EBA Tax Committee and the EBA Animal Health Committee. The discussion was focused on the use of RSO/SRSO when providing services in the field of veterinary medicine and the sale of veterinary drugs, the specifics of the use of RSO in retail, storage of cash registers, and paper check tapes, and so on. Business discussed tax initiatives with the Voice Party  During the meeting, the EBA representatives stressed the importance of reducing tax pressure and reducing the burden on the payroll. According to business, these priorities should be included in the new tax reform, which is currently being actively discussed in government. Business discussed with the Mineconomy the obtainment of licenses for import/export of goods containing fluorinated greenhouse gases The EBA Consumer Electronics Committee met with Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and the leadership of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Ministry of Economy. During the meeting, the EBA representatives presented their proposals to simplify the procedure for obtaining licenses for the import/export of air conditioners, heat pumps, and other goods containing fluorinated greenhouse gases. The powers of the CMO Accreditation Commission will be terminated prematurely This week, the President of Ukraine signed draft law №5572 on Amendments to Copyright Law, which was supported by the Association. This document prematurely terminates the powers of the Accreditation Commission of Collective Management Organizations which sets the fee rate to be deducted from manufacturers and importers of gadgets and media and provides for the need to approve a new composition of the Accreditation Commission and announce competitions for accreditation of CMOs. Business discussed with the Ministry of Economy the issue of copyright fee deductions Representatives of the Association also met with Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksandr Hryban to discuss the most pressing issues in the field of payment of copyright fees imposed on equipment and media. It was stressed that a representative of equipment manufacturers and importers needs to be included in the accreditation commission, which will elect the CMOs in the areas of private copying and reproduction.
