Advocacy achievements of the week

17/ 09/ 2021
The current week has brought some good news to companies in the field of clinical trials, consumer electronics, and the regulatory area. The issuance of the conclusions of the sanitary and epidemiological examination will be resumed The Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine has signed the Order On the establishment of commissions for the state sanitary-epidemiological examination in extremely dire cases which will resume the examination and the issuance of relevant conclusions for the business. Prepayment for CT materials examination services has been introduced The EBA Clinical Trials Subcommittee suggested that the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine introduce the possibility of prepayment for examination services prior to the submission of CT materials. This is due to the fact that the SEC returned to the practice of starting the examination of CT materials only upon the payment. The extended terms for the start of the examination have a negative impact on the overall term of approval of the CT and significant amendments which in turn negatively affect the attractiveness of Ukraine for CT sponsors. As a result of the joint discussion of the proposals, the SEC introduced the possibility of advance payment for services of specialized evaluation of materials which will facilitate the proper planning of expert work. The study Assessment of the optimal parameters of the economic system of fees built to protect copyright and related rights was presented There was a presentation of economically viable calculations of fees for private copying and reprography with the consideration of the figures of actual downloaded content consumption by Ukrainian consumers. This is a study of the system of copyright protection and assessment of the fair amount of fees imposed on electronic devices which can be used for copying copyrighted works. This work proposes a new methodology for calculating the royalty tariffs given the changing circumstances in Ukraine. EBA met with the management of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection twice this week This week there were two important meetings between the management of the State Food and Consumer Service and representatives of the food industry and retail trade. We are grateful for the timely discussion of business issues and response to the problems of companies! Draft amendments to the legislation on e-commerce were presented Representatives of the Ministry of Finance presented to the business community a draft law to amend the legislation on e-commerce. The draft law aims to create a mechanism for the resolution of consumer disputes online, as well as to verify the accuracy of information about online stores, which, in turn, should improve the situation with the protection of the rights of online shoppers. We thank you for this important initiative and look forward to continuing to work on this draft law with the consideration of comments from the business.
