Re-birth of a Kyiv legend

04/ 10/ 2019
Fully renovated 254 rooms, conference area, lobby and lobby bar of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv near Golden gate are open On October, 1st Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv near Golden gate presented its new look after a full renovation of the entire Hotel. Stylish design where the local heritage is interpreted through modern materials, comfortable zoning both for a business traveler and a tourist, attention to the smallest details to deliver personalized service and inspire unforgettable experience for each stay – these are the key value propositions of a fully renovated Kyiv legend. Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Lobby and Lobby Bar design philosophy takes us through all the layers of it’s area history, where the past and the present are blended together creating the sensation of a timeless experience. The building itself in its eclectic style, the Radisson Blu brand’s tradition of contemporary luxury design and interior design elements reflecting the unique local heritage are combined by the OMO Design studio and form the Hotel’s design concept – TIMELESS. Each art element in the space has its own story. The timeline ribbon in the center of the lobby carries the ebb and flow of historical events. Old masters’ style photography magically captures the members of the hotel staff. Glass walls at the entrance reproduce the fragments of the old city walls. Small décor elements re-imagined from ancient artefacts and accessories get revival in a modern interpretation. Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv being the first international hotel brand that started its operation in Kyiv in 2005, after 14 years of operation started its full renovation. To begin with in 2017 the entire conference area on the ground floor was renewed – not only by design, but all the engineering elements, audio and visual equipment. Then proceeded with rooms in 2017-2018. New rooms design was developed by Lundwall Architects - well-known Nordic design bureau which adapts Nordic design traditions to compliment the unique and original setting. New rooms of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv are a combination of simplicity, minimalism and functionality that can easily fit to the tastes of the Hotel’s multinational mix of guests. The interior of the rooms is complemented by modern art – Kyiv photos made by famouse Ukrainian photographers.   The renovation process covered everything, from wall coatings to furniture and lamps. Some of the rooms got a completely new space zoning. The combination of different materials and colours like grey and violet creates unique atmosphere in the rooms. Industrial elements and forms are gracefully combined with natural wooden elements and textile, completing the ambiance by adding a lot of mirrors, glass surfaces and lamps. In 2019 took place the final stage of the renovation – lobby, main entrance and lobby bar makeover. Mr. Jesper Henriksen General Manager Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv and Kyiv City Director, said: “When it came to renovation and new design development of the first international branded hotel that started operating in Kyiv 14 years ago, we did not want simply to recreate a Radisson’s luxury style. We wanted to integrate and reflect the local heritage, to show the connection with the Golden gate, the Yaroslaviv Val street and the original historical building style. For this purpose, we looked for a Ukrainian designer who could do it in a proper way. And today we are proud to present the upper upscale hotel – the re-birth of a Kyiv legend.” Mr. Karl-Maria Pfeffer - CEO,  Raiffeisen Property International Gmbh, said: “It is our great pleasure to reopen this landmark hotel which always has had a pioneering role in Kyiv. And we are confident that it will do so for the next decade.” Ms. Natalia Shchyra - British-Ukrainian designer, principal at OMO design, UK, said: “We call this project Timeless. The hotels building is located at the site of the ancient city wall, the Golden Gate and the UNESCO world heritage site of St. Sophia Cathedral and it carries a powerful ancient energy within its walls. Our vision is to blend the hotels contemporary luxury with the elements of the rich local historic heritage. The interior’s calm modern harmony of wood and stone is contrasted by the artworks and artifacts of the past century, where each piece has its own story. It has been a pleasure to work with the Radisson Blu team who provided inspiration for many design solutions.” Download:  Photos of the renovated Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Download: Photos from the Opening party *** Media contacts: Yuliia Druzhynskaya, Cluster Digital Marketing Manager [email protected] Yana Kozhekina, Assistant of Marketing and Communications Manager T: +380 44 492 2258, M: +380 93 181 6180 [email protected] ABOUT RADISSON BLU Radisson Blu is an upper upscale hotel brand that delivers a positive and personalized service in stylish spaces.
