EBA community met with Olha Stefanishyna

Yesterday, the European Business Association hosted a meeting with Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, dedicated to Ukraines European integration movement. Ms. Stefanishyna informed that the country is moving dynamically towards membership. Currently, the process of screening in all areas of the future EU membership agreement has been launched, which involves determining the scope of obligations that Ukraine must implement to adopt European standards. Therefore, Ms. Olha called on businesses to join the process and provide information about their needs. She emphasized that the negotiating position should be shaped by the Ukrainian economy, the government should provide the legal component, so business should be active and be the primary source of data in this matter. In general, the negotiation process will be open at the initial stages. Therefore, you can join in now, formulate and ask questions, and formulate an appropriate position. At the same time, an official request has already been sent to the European Commission to consider the negotiations on agriculture, food, and transport as a priority. Olha Stefanishyna also emphasized that in the process of accession, Ukraine should cancel all free trade agreements and withdraw from the agreements it has now. After all, Ukraine will become part of the agreements in force in the EU (if the negotiation process goes well). So businesses should understand this and review the markets for relevance. In the context of NATO membership, she emphasized that this is a guarantee of investment in the country. Thus, preparations for the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. are underway. In the context of the situation on the Ukraine-Poland border, the Deputy Prime Minister reminded that a joint meeting of the governments would be held on March 28 to discuss issues of concern to both sides.
