Artificial Intelligence in HR: Changes, Challenges, and Opportunities

21/ 02/ 2024
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly integral part of business management. It can help companies automate tasks, make better decisions, and enhance customer service. Therefore, in the new project of the Southern Ukraine office of the AI in Business Association, we will discuss the advantages of using AI in business, share experiences, and provide advice to companies, helping them adapt to changes and ensure sustainable development. During the first online meeting on 21 of February, 2024, we discussed the topic: How artificial intelligence has already changed the modern world of HR. The invited experts were Nadiia Savchenko, founder of Key People HR Agency, head of EBA Odesa HR Hub, and Anna Krysenko, recruiter at Key People HR Agency. We discussed how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a key player in the transformation of work in the field of Human Resources (HR). Its impact is felt in all aspects of HR processes, from recruiting to talent management. It was noted that AI can significantly simplify and expedite the candidate selection process. Resume analysis algorithms can quickly filter candidates based on specific criteria, freeing HR specialists from routine tasks. Chatbots can automatically conduct preliminary interviews, saving time as well. However, it is essential to remember that the human factor is crucial. People can identify subtle details that AI might miss. Intuition, empathy, and the ability to adapt to specific situations are qualities that make humans indispensable in the recruitment process and other practical tasks. Another key aspect is interacting with candidates. While chatbots can conduct preliminary interviews, it is crucial to have the opportunity to speak with a real person in later stages of selection. The recruiters expression of interest and attention can influence the candidates decision to accept a job offer. The psychological aspect should also be considered. People can discern important nuances in a candidates behaviour during an interview, providing valuable information about their character and compatibility with the team. It should be noted that Artificial Intelligence in HR also helps collect and analyse vast amounts of data, simplifying tasks for recruiters and managers. AI-based analytics can identify key trends in hiring, team efficiency, and other factors, assisting companies in making informed decisions. AI tools can predict risks and the success of candidates based on their history and characteristics, facilitating selection and improving the quality of hiring by reducing the chances of hiring an unsuitable candidate. The application of AI in HR allows the automation of document processing and archiving, including resumes, job offers, and contracts. This reduces the time spent on administrative tasks and ensures greater accuracy in documentation. Therefore, AI has already changed the realities of modern HR, becoming a true assistant in solving routine tasks. However, the harmony between technology and the human factor is crucial, where HR professionals can use AI to improve processes and focus on more strategic and human aspects of their work. The future job market necessitates continuous development and adaptation, but it also opens up new opportunities for creativity and innovation.
