Since leaving Russia, we have been focusing on the future, hoping to contribute to the reconstruction of the Ukrainian economy, — Sebastià Pons, FMC Vice President, participated Ukraine Forum

24/ 03/ 2023
Kyiv, 23 March 2023 — Sebastià Pons, FMC Vice President and President, Europe, Middle East, Africa, participated and gave a testimonial speech at the 9th Ukraine Forum at Switzerland Parliament. In his opinion, everyone is painfully aware of the role of Ukraine when it comes to global food security, especially given its importance in cereals and oilseed production. Therefore, FMCs main objective is supporting the sustainable development of agriculture in Ukraine, in particular supporting its farmers, making sure that technology and innovations are available where they are needed. Helping Ukrainian farmers companies like FMC contribute to food security: there is no agriculture for a growing world population without crop protection. “It is our responsibility to help Ukraine and stop Russian crimes. Governments and private industry cannot ignore it. FMC became the first company in the Crop Protection industry to leave Russia. Today, through the program “Cultivating Freedom”, we are committing part of our revenue in Ukraine to support the de-mining of Ukraine’s agricultural land and to help Ukrainian farmers to go back to work safely”, commented Sebastià Pons. The Forum’s speakers analyzed Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine with an in-depth look at global implications, human security, geopolitical risks, combating disinformation, investigation and prosecution of war crimes, legal and governance reform, and reconstruction. “Ukraine, the aggressed nation, is fighting for its future, for its freedom, for democracy and justice and to uphold the respect of international law. For every $1 the Swiss Government declares in bilateral aid to Ukraine, Swiss-based companies may still be paying $17 in taxes to the Russian State, and indirectly financing the war of aggression against Ukraine”, emphasized Andrej Lushnycky, Chair, Ukraine Forum, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Switzerland in a LinkedIn post. Also, speakers included: Edward Lucas, Senior Fellow, Center for European Policy Analysis, Christa Markwalder, MP Switzerland, Oleksandra Matviichuk, Nobel Laureate, Center for Civil Liberties, Nataliya Popovych, founder of One Philosophy Group, co-founder and board member, Ukraine Crisis Media Center, David Arakhamia, MP, Verkhovna Rada, and the words of welcome from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation Iryna Venediktova. * * * To learn more, follow us on social media: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/fmcua LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/fmc-ukraine-agro/ Ukraine website page on project: https://cultivatingfreedom.fmc.com.ua/ The Ukraine Forum, founded by the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland, is a collaborative effort between the Swiss-Ukrainian Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland, taking place since 2014 at the Parliament of Switzerland.
