The War Museum launches large-scale redevelopment: new spaces on military technologies and propaganda

19/ 04/ 2026
The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War has announced the start of its first large-scale redevelopment of the Memorial Complex in 45 years. The project предусматриє the creation of two new spaces — the Museum of Military Technologies and the Museum of Russian (Soviet) Propaganda. The initiative aims to create a modern museum environment that combines history with innovative approaches to its interpretation. The new space will contribute to the development of critical thinking, strengthening Ukrainian identity, and fostering a deeper understanding of the realities of war. View the presentation The project includes the reconstruction and arrangement of an indoor space with a total area of 710 sq. m. The exhibitions will be interactive, multimedia, and artifact-based. In addition to museum areas, a mini conference hall will also be created to host events and discussions. The total project budget amounts to UAH 20 million. Funding will be provided through voluntary contributions from businesses and the public. The project initiators invite partners to join the initiative and become contributors to Ukraine’s modern history — a history that will be preserved and presented within the War Museum. Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Museum has already become an important center for preserving memory and interpreting the war: over 1 million visitors; more than 21,000 collected artifacts; 90 exhibition projects presented in Ukraine and across 18 countries worldwide. The project has already received coverage from leading Ukrainian media, including Dim, 1+1, The Village Ukraine, Vechirnyi Kyiv, Radio Kultura, Interfax, Ukrinform, and others. The Museum team is open to partnerships and would highly appreciate the opportunity to present the project in person and discuss potential formats of cooperation.
