McDonald’s and Partners Launch Accessibility Guide for Food Service Businesses

29/ 09/ 2026
McDonald’s Ukraine has initiated the development of the Accessibility Guide for Food Service Businesses to share its experience and help Ukrainian businesses create spaces that are comfortable and accessible for people with different needs. The guide was developed jointly with the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, with the support of the League of the Strong NGO. The guide combines current accessibility requirements under Ukrainian legislation with practical solutions and covers the customer journey from entry and navigation to service and communication. It is designed to help owners and managers in the service sector better navigate accessibility standards, adapt their premises more efficiently, and remove barriers to create comfortable spaces for visitors. The guide is based on the principles of universal design and focuses on the needs of people who use these spaces every day. McDonald’s practical experience played an important role in developing the guide. The company considers the needs of different visitors when building new restaurants and renovating existing ones, including in architecture, spatial planning, navigation and service. Since 2022 alone, McDonald’s has modernized 14 restaurants in Ukraine to make them more accessible to customers. All new restaurants are built in accordance with current accessibility standards. Across its restaurants, McDonald’s provides tactile paving and Braille information signs for people with visual impairments, designated spaces for wheelchair users, accessible restrooms and automatic doors. To make self-service ordering more convenient for children and wheelchair users, all restaurants are equipped with digital self-service terminals featuring a screen lowering function. * * * About McDonalds in Ukraine   McDonalds in Ukraine is a leader among fast service restaurants.
