In May 2019, Carien Veldman assigned as the General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Podil.

Carien, who is South African, studied Business Communication and Media at the Potchefstroom University, and has more than 18 years of hospitality experience.

She started her career as Housekeeping Attendant at the Radisson Blu in Galway. In late, she left Radisson Hotel Group to start working as Assistant Bistro Manager at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny, Ireland.

After leaving the group to work in other hotel chains and property development Carien rejoined the company in 2008 as Front Office Manager at the Radisson Blu Port Elizabeth. In 2011, she moved to Maputo, Mozambique, to take on the role as Front Office Manager for the opening of the property, eventually becoming Executive Assistant Manager. Carien’s first General Manager assignment was at the Park Inn by Radisson Ekaterinburg in 2017. After several years, she continued her journey and came to the Ukraine in Kyiv, where she has now been appointed General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Podil.

“I am passionate about developing competent teams that love what they do. Eastern Europe is a very interesting region and I can’t wait to get to know Kyiv and learn a few words of Ukrainian’’, says Carien, reflecting on her new career path.

In her free time Carien loves traveling, enjoys art and music with a glass of wine.
