Stories that inspire CRH

29/ 04/ 2022
Cooperation with UNICEF On March 8, the CRH donated € 1 million to UNICEF to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The money will be used to set up four Blue Dot centres in border areas, capable of supporting 3,000 to 5,000 women and children daily, offering shelter and practical and psychological assistance. On March 9, together with UNICEF, a separate page was created for CRH employees, where anyone can transfer funds to support Ukraine, and CRH, for its part, will double the amount of donations from workers. In just five days, our colleagues worldwide transferred $ 150,000, and as promised, CRH doubled that amount, transferring an additional $ 150,000. Employee support On the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, all our employees in Kyiv and Odesa were asked to evacuate with their families to the city of Kamyanets-Podilsky. Employees were accommodated in the city’s hotel rooms and apartments provided by colleagues from the Kamyanets-Podilsky Cement Plant. Subsequently, a program was introduced to evacuate employees and their families - wives, children, parents - to the countries of our cluster - Poland, Romania and Slovakia. It provides transfers, accommodation and financial assistance. Additionally, food, corporate SIM cards for local mobile operators, and health insurance are provided depending on the country. The Stay Up 2 project was launched on March 31 at CRH. The project covers plant improvements, industrial projects and feasibility studies, business process improvement, and training. The management of each functional team independently determined the list of tasks within the project. More than 40 training for staff is planned by the end of June. Also, within the project, English language courses were introduced for everyone.
