Modern technologies for safe demining – solutions from “Chemlaborreaktiv”

25/ 04/ 2025
The scale of explosives contamination on Ukrainian territories poses new challenges to the state every day – not only in the context of security, but also from the ecological point of view. Soil, water resources and agricultural land contamination turns the problem of demining into a strategic task of the national level. These issues were the focus of discussion during the round table on the topic “Environmental aspects of demining: challenges and solutions” organized by the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and supported by the OSCE. The representatives of ministries, international organizations, expert circles and businesses took part in the event. Specialists from the company “Chemlaborreaktiv” were among them, presenting modern technological solutions for safe and effective threats detection. The company has extensive experience of implementing and technically adapting environmental monitoring projects in Ukraine considering the EU standards requirements. So when new challenges arose related to the conduct of military operations, HLR’s experience and expertise helped to provide the Ukrainian market with advanced developments for the study of hazardous substances.   Fast, safe, accurate: HLR demonstrates the potential of modern equipment The round table participants noted the need for interdepartmental coordination and involving the private sector in the development and implementation of solutions that will contribute to environmental safety. In this context, modern technologies that ensure effective, fast and safe detection of threats play an important role. These are the solutions presented by the “Chemlaborreaktiv»” team. Ivan Stovbchaty, a leading specialist in the HLR general laboratory equipment department, delivered a report on the topic “Modern portable solutions for a comprehensive assessment of the consequences of military operations”. The focus of his speech was on portable spectrometers that enable us to identify explosive and toxic substances without the need for preliminary sample preparation or direct contact with potentially dangerous samples. Thanks to such devices, operators receive results in a matter of seconds, which significantly reduces risks to life and health. The HLR specialist outlined the advantages of innovative solutions from international manufacturers – in particular, he spoke about the portable Raman spectrometer Serstech Arx and the infrared spectrometer ProtectIR from RedWave. Both devices are actively used in field conditions in the EU and the USA, such as armies, rescue services, border and customs points. Business is a state partner in strengthening the country’s environmental security However, the list of equipment itself was not the primary topic of the speech. The main emphasis was placed on the importance that Ukrainian institutions – the military, pyrotechnic units, ecology services and laboratories – have access to modern tools for detecting and monitoring threats. After all, environmental safety is not only the environment issue, but also the prerequisite for the safe return of the population, the restoration of agriculture and industry. That is why HLR’s participation in such events not only presents solutions, but also demonstrates business’s active position. Along with providing technical support, “Chemlaborreaktiv” is constantly involved in the processes of infrastructure reconstruction and Ukrainian enterprises modernization. Thanks to cooperation with government agencies, international partners and civil society representatives, HLR proves that responsible business can and should play an important role in preserving the Ukraine’s nature potential.
