CRH Ukraine Supports Communities During COVID-19 Pandemic

    In its fight to prevent the spreading of the new COVID-19 coronavirus, the management of the CRH Group have decided to focus its efforts on supporting the communities where the company operates. During the first half of April 2020, CRH Ukraine’s operational sites provided support to the medical institutions and local communities in Khmelnytsky region, in the city of Odesa, in Mykolaiv district of Lviv region, and in the town of Korosten in Zhytomyr region. “Building endurable relationships with local communities where our plants operate is one of CRH Group priorities, therefore our Corporate Social Responsibility goals are mostly focused on local impactful projects. Today Ukraine, as the whole world, faces challenging times when it is extremely important that government, local authorities and businesses joined forces in fighting the COVID-19 crisis.”, says Frédéric Aubet, Managing Director CRH Ukraine. As a result, the cement plant in Kamyanets-Podilsky donated medical equipment and personal protective means to two hospitals in Khmelnytsky region. The management of JSC Podilsky Cement provided medical equipment and sets of personal protective means to the medics of Khmelnytsky Regional Hospital and Kamyanets-Podilsky Central District hospital. Mykolaivcement donated sets of personal protective means to Mykolaiv District Hospital. These will be used by the medical institutions of the district. The employees of the cement plant in Odesa supported the community in the Kryva Balka neighbourhood in the city of Odesa. They purchased, packaged and delivered grocery baskets to aged people, veterans and the disadvantaged who live not far from the plant in the Kryva Balka neighbourhood. Bekhivsky Specialised Quarry provided assistance in equipping the hospital in the town of Korosten. The team of the quarry donated sanitizers, medical gloves and face masks to Korosten Central District Hospital.
