EBA launches a Working Group on Veteran Policy

  The European Business Association has launched a Working Group on Veterans Practices and Policies within the ESG Hub. The purpose of the Working Group is to exchange experience between businesses on aspects and practices of veterans integration, consult on changes in legislation and develop legislative initiatives, work with relevant ministries, the Employment Service, communities and local governments, charities and NGOs that provide veterans services to create normal conditions for integration, work with educational institutions, etc. The Working Group members are EBA business members with experience, expertise and relevant veteran practices. The list of key issues the Working Group will address: return and integration of demobilized employees to their jobs; Veterans need for legal support; veterans need for psychological support; veteran entrepreneurship; development of programs and initiatives to support veterans in the workplace, advanced training and professional development; analysis of military practices and policies of other countries; an integrated approach to the development of legislative initiatives; simplified procedure for prosthetics; support for families of employees who are serving or have died; labor protection. Volodymyr Zabela, MHPs Head of Regional Development, is the chairman of the working group on veteran practices. At the same time, educational retraining, legislative revision, training of relevant specialists, etc. take time. We, as a community of socially responsible businesses, understand this and are already beginning to work actively in this area, because veterans are a powerful, highly skilled workforce and businesses will be happy to hire people with such experience. And the policy of veteran-owned enterprises will, in fact, be the basis of economic recovery.
