13/ 03/ 2026
On 12 March, representatives of the Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee and the Chemical Safety Subcommittee of the European Business Association held a meeting with Oksana Mylianyk, Green Recovery Expert at the Reform Support Team of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. During the meeting, participants discussed a number of issues related to chemical safety, including: practical aspects of implementing the requirements of the REACH and CLP technical regulations into Ukrainian legislation, as well as cooperation with European partners; coordination between government authorities and businesses in the process of aligning Ukrainian chemical safety legislation with the law of the European Union; training Ukrainian specialists abroad to support the future implementation of European practices related to the application of chemical safety regulations; preparing Ukrainian companies to comply with requirements concerning the registration, classification, labelling, and safe use of chemical substances. During the webinar, business representatives had the opportunity to outline the key challenges they face and learn more about the Ministry of Economy’s plans for further harmonisation of the REACH and CLP technical regulations. Participants also discussed possible formats of cooperation and the composition of a joint working group that is expected to be established in the near future, as well as the expectations and requirements of European partners in the context of Ukraine’s European integration commitments. An important outcome of the meeting was the alignment of positions between the business community and the Reform Support Team regarding the need to simplify registration procedures as much as possible and to develop Ukrainian systems and databases similar to those used in the EU, which could be recognised following Ukraine’s integration into the European community. The Ministry announced the first steps in this direction, including active cooperation with European partners and relevant associations abroad, the creation of an expert community in Ukraine with strong business involvement, further harmonisation of regulations, and the development of the necessary guidelines, helpdesk support, and other practical tools.  The Association expresses its gratitude to Oksana Mylianyk and the Reform Support Team of the Ministry of Economy for the meaningful discussion, openness, and willingness to cooperate.
