Chambers Sanctions 2024: an overview of Ukraine’s practice

  Chambers and Partners, a leading international research firm, has published its annual Sanctions 2024 guide concerning the sanctions landscape in Ukraine. This marks a significant milestone as the first publication of the national practice in the countrys history. VB Partners attorneys prepared the study, which covers critical aspects of Ukraines sanctions policy in response to russian aggression. The Ukrainian section includes: 1.     Trends and overview of the sanctions sphere: Activity of Ukraines use of the sanction’s mechanism. Nationalization of russian assets to finance Ukraines recovery. Establishment of the State Register of Sanctions as a resource for improved control and monitoring. 2.     Regulation of the industry: The roles of the following regulators of conventional sanctions are defined: the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Bank, the Security Service, the National Security and Defence Council, the President, and the Verkhovna Rada. The role of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the High Anti-Corruption Court in the nationalization of assets is highlighted. 3.     Overview of legislation and court practice, including issues related to sanctions enforcement and their lifting.
