Business asks Red Cross to launch a full-scale humanitarian mission in Ukraine

07/ 03/ 2022
The European Business Association appealed to the leadership of the International Red Cross Committee on the importance of deploying an international humanitarian mission in Ukraine during the war with the Russian Federation. For the 12th day, Ukrainian citizens have been fighting the Russian occupiers. The situation remains very difficult in many settlements in central, northeastern, eastern and southern Ukraine that are captured or surrounded by diversionist groups. Due to this, it is not possible to provide these cities with food, water, medicine and basic necessities. The occupiers do not provide green corridors for the evacuation of civilians from these regions or the supply of vital products. As a result of constant shelling, the cities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Volnovakha, Shchastya, Stanytsia Luhanska, Bucha, Irpin, as well as other Ukrainian settlements are on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. Some of them have already been practically destroyed. Residents, who are mostly in shelters and basements, lack food, drinking water and medicine, lack medical care, electricity and heating. There was also a problem of physical transfer of humanitarian aid across the border of Ukraine. Countries that are ready to help the population have already collected aid, but so far in Ukraine there are no official statements or protocols from international organizations with instructions on how to actually carry out such transportation. With this in mind, the European Business Association called on the leadership of the Red Cross to urgently launch an immediate full-scale humanitarian aid mission for Ukraine, as well as to develop official support protocols and instructions for the transportation of humanitarian aid to international donor countries.
