Business discussed the introduction of e-prescription for antibiotics with the Ministry of Health

04/ 08/ 2022
From August 1, Ukrainian doctors and pharmacists have started working with electronic prescriptions for antibiotics. This is possible in institutions that are connected to the electronic health care system (EHS). E-prescription for antibiotics is the first stage of implementation of the electronic system of control over prescription drugs. The second stage should cover narcotic drugs, and the third - all other prescription drugs. Such a measure is crucial as antimicrobial resistance is becoming an ever-greater danger – the WHO recognized it as one of the ten greatest threats to humanity. The Ministry of Health expects that the introduction of e-prescriptions will help to prevent self-medication and irresponsible use of antibiotics. It will increase the transparency in dispensing prescription drugs and, as a result, will help to build a system of clinical monitoring of the effectiveness of drugs. You can learn more about the problem of antimicrobial resistance in the presentation of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
