Amadeus Marine at Agro Forum in Amsterdam

Late May 2018 our company was a participant of Agro Forum organized by Strategy Council in Amsterdam. One of the sensitive issues more and more often articulated at similar events is financing of the branch. First we would like to note that organization of the Forum deserves a special encouragement: high level of organization regarding spokesmen as well as service of the event, participants received an opportunity to listen to interesting reports, participate in real dialogues with colleagues, enjoy a pleasant and open atmosphere of the event. Amadeus Marine represents a railroad industry in the logistical chain of grain and liquid cargo export.  One of the panel discussions engaged financing of agro sector of Ukraine by funds and large European banks. Particularly, representatives of such structures as ING, FMO, IFC, EBRD expressed general tendencies in the sphere of financing. One of the positive issues we can mark is that Ukrainian agro sector is on the whole considered to be attractive, nevertheless, everything is directed to risks mitigation and, consequently, to segregation on choosing the financed companies preferring large, stable holdings. The main issue: «What does medium and small business have to do without administrative resource?» is left unsolved and open. At similar events we always ask this question to banks and funds, unfortunately, not receiving the clear understanding and algorithm of actions. One of recommendations we received at this Agro Forum is «Apply to local banks», unfortunately, does not solve the problems of logistic branch. Banks of Ukraine are very weak in characteristic aspects of logistics and finance only according to familiar clear schemes, for instance, against security of immovable property. What are we to do in this situation? The only thing to do for now is to try and bring our position to information of financing structures. We have to try to explain, to show the basis of our business, to raise understanding that we are an interesting and perspective branch for investment. For this purpose it is very important to consolidate logistic companies and regularly attend such forums or conferences. We are sure that not so much time will pass and we will prove the financing companies that our business is also rather attractive and most important not so risky as it may seem first. The chain of cargo supply for export cannot perfectly operate without stable, smoothly developing logistic companies.
