Resolving the issue of womens military registration According to Ukrainian legislation, millions of Ukrainian women between the ages of 18 and 60 who have specialties, professions or diplomas related to the military accounting specialties specified in the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine 313 were to register for military registration from October 1, 2022. This order caused a lot of questions both in business and in the territorial centers of recruitment and social support (TCR and SS or military commissariats). In particular, there were many questions about whether it is necessary to take into account a diploma or real work experience when making a decision about the military registration of a woman. There are no clear exceptions for women with young children or pregnant women, etc. In addition, it was clear that enlisting such a huge number of women in the military in 2022 was not considered possible, including considering the staffing of the TCR and SS. Which, in turn, could lead to the imposition of fines on women who failed to register for the military on time, and the emergence of unnecessary social tension. In view of the aforementioned, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine made a decision to postpone the entry into force of the requirement for women to enter the military register for a year. At the same time, it was possible to finally solve the mentioned issue by adopting draft law No.6482, which provides for the voluntary registration of women with the exception of doctors and was supported by the Association. In particular, the draft law provides that women who have a specialty and/or profession specified in the relevant order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine may be included in the military register of conscripts at their own request. On October 7, 2022, Draft Law No.6482 was approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the second reading and is currently awaiting signature by the President of Ukraine.
