Consumer Electronics

Business will be able to issue warranty in electronic form The EBA has repeatedly drawn the attention of government officials to the need to revise outdated legislation and enable businesses to transfer communications with consumers to online platforms and digitize the procedure for issuing warranties. The ability to issue and store warranty and other product documentation, such as instructions for use, in electronic form will not only modernize the process of business communication with consumers but also make it faster and more convenient. Therefore, the EBA fully supported the need to adopt draft Law 4185. At the same time, the EBA provided several comments on the proposed text of the draft law №4185 in order to harmonize its norms with real business processes. Thus, in particular, the business community proposed (1) to provide for the possibility of providing electronic documents on external media or on the internal memory of the device; (2) expand the list of companies on the official websites of which access to the warranty and instructions for the consumer can be provided, etc. Since the draft law was adopted immediately in the first reading and in general, we hope that these proposals can be taken into account in the bylaws, including in the updated version of the order of the Ministry of Economy on warranty repair of household appliances and electronics. Therefore, the EBA is grateful to the Members of Parliament of Ukraine and other involved state bodies for the development and adoption of the Draft Law №4185 and we hope for further constructive cooperation aimed at improving the relevant bylaws and improving the business environment in Ukraine.
