Meeting with representatives of the Department of phytosanitary contol of the State Food Security Service

    Members of the EBA Grain and Oilseeds Committee had a meeting with representatives of the Department of phytosanitary contol of the State Service of Ukraine for Food and Consumer Protection (the State Food Security Service), Mr Andriy Chelombitko and Mr Vadym Chaykovskyi. The participants discussed critical issues for Ukrainian grain exporter, in particular, a new requirement of Indonesia for Ukraine origin wheat crops infected by Tilletia spp. spores to be heat treated in Ukraine at temperature of 70-80 °C. This procedure will come into force on 1 January 2019 and could lead to the closure of the Indonesian market for Ukrainian wheat exporters. At the same time, representatives of the State Food Security Service assured participants of the meeting that they are ready to consider alternative methods for disinfecting wheat and to submit proposals to the Indonesian side. In addition, they drew attention to the timeliness of documentary submission for inclusion in the appropriate lists of corn exporters to the Peoples Republic of China.
