21/ 02/ 2018
European Business Association hosted a delegation from the European Commission headed by the Director-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission Mr. Henrik Hololei. During the meeting, EBA experts discussed important issues for the business community and shared their ideas about the development of the Ukrainian infrastructure. The representatives of business have emphasized that proper cooperation and reduction of the states share in the transport sector especially the development of public-private partnership and the privatization mechanism will promote the development of competition and increase investment potential of the country. Also, participants of the meeting discussed  the package of sectoral draft laws, which are submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In particular, the adoption of the Draft Law №7316 On railway transport considering the amendments of the EBA Logistics Committee is very important for the business community. On the other hand, representatives of business raised the issue of transparency of the processes in all areas of infrastructure: on railways, roads, ports, because only full transparency is a key factor for business development. Mr. Hololei stressed that public authorities should work intensively to reduce corruption, because the country’s 130th place in the index of corruption perception is a negative sign for foreign investors. European Business Association is pleasantly impressed that Mr. Hololei has fully supported ideas suggested by the EBA experts and assured that he will provide expert support for the implementation of reforms. We thank all the participants of the meeting for meaningful dialogue and look forward to further cooperation!
