Meeting with the Management of the Odessa Customs Service

  On May 29, 2024, a meeting between the management of the Odessa Customs Service and representatives of the EBA Southern Ukrainian Office business community took place. The speakers from the Odessa Customs were: Yuriy Cherdyntsev, Acting Head of Odessa Customs; Valeriy Lukyanov, Acting First Deputy Head of Customs; and Oleksandr Kholopov, Head of the Department of Organization of Customs Control and Clearance. The Association was represented by experts: Oleksandr Lazarev, Chairman of the Coordination Council of the EBA Southern Ukrainian Office, Co-chair of the Customs Committee of the European Business Association, and CEO of LAMARIN; Viktor Berestenko, President of the Association of International Forwarders of Ukraine and co-owner of the member company ITL; as well as representatives from member companies. In his speech Yuriy Cherdyntsev emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue between customs and business. He highlighted that customs aims to create the most comfortable conditions for business development while ensuring legality and transparency in customs procedures. During the meeting issues related to the optimization of customs procedures, particularly the implementation of electronic services and process automation were discussed. The goal is to reduce the time required for customs formalities and decrease costs for entrepreneurs. Business representatives actively participated in the discussion, expressing their proposals and comments. They stressed the importance of a stable and predictable customs environment for the successful operation of enterprises. Special attention was paid to the necessity of closer interaction and regular consultations between customs and business. The dialogue between the business community and the leadership of the Odessa Customs indicates the readiness of both parties for further cooperation. Such meetings are an important step towards creating favorable conditions for business development in Ukraine and improving the efficiency of customs authorities.
