Meeting of the European Business Association Customs Committee

  On 5 March, the European Business Association held the latest meeting of its Customs Committee, during which participants discussed current issues in customs regulation and practical aspects of business interaction with customs authorities. Attendees reviewed a draft letter concerning the entry into force of the Decision of the Ukraine-EFTA Joint Committee No. 1/2025 on amendments to the Protocol on the Rules of Origin of Goods under the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EFTA States. Special attention was given to the prospects for adopting the new edition of the Customs Code of Ukraine, particularly regarding the implementation of new practices in customs representation. Participants also discussed customs audits and post-clearance control, as well as the current status of businesses obtaining customs authorisations and permits. Additionally, the position of the State Customs Service of Ukraine on the use of simple electronic signatures in documents submitted alongside customs declarations was reviewed, specifically signatures generated on digital platforms. At the end of the meeting, the co-chairs of the Customs Committee answered questions from business representatives and provided clarifications on practical issues in the field of customs regulation. The Association thanks the Committee members for their engagement in the discussion and constructive exchange of views. The business community will continue professional dialogue with government authorities to improve customs regulation and enhance conditions for conducting foreign economic activity in Ukraine.
