Meeting of the European Business Association Committee Heads

21/ 10/ 2024
On 18 October, a meeting of the European Business Association committee heads took place. We were delighted to meet in a hybrid format to discuss the status of current issues and the business communitys response, as well as the next steps and priorities in the ЕВАs advocacy work. Oleksandr Ilkov, Head of the Government Office for the Coordination on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, joined the meeting with the committee heads to provide the latest updates on Ukraines negotiating position for EU accession and to discuss business involvement in this process. At present, 36 negotiating working groups have been established with the participation of businesses, civil society, and the academic community, and their composition has already been approved. Based on the work of these expert groups, a national legislative adaptation programme — a detailed step-by-step plan following a preliminary screening of legislation — will be developed. The government expects businesses to provide specific proposals, timelines, and financial and economic calculations regarding the impact of various decisions on companies and industries. The European Business Association has nominated candidates for the negotiating groups and is preparing for highly productive work. The business community is ready to support the government in this important task and help form a strong, objective negotiating position that takes national characteristics into account. We are grateful to Oleksandr Ilkov and all the committee heads who joined the meeting!
