19/ 08/ 2026
On 19 August, the European Business Association held a meeting with the management of the Kyiv Customs Office to discuss practical aspects of customs authorities’ operations under martial law and in other emergency situations. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss procedures for interaction between customs authorities and businesses in circumstances that may make it impossible to carry out customs clearance as usual. During the meeting, representatives of EBA member companies raised questions regarding the existence of approved procedures for customs authorities in cases where customs clearance locations are damaged or destroyed as a result of emergency events, including situations involving power or communication outages. Particular attention was also paid to the current list of customs clearance locations and their operational capabilities, as well as the availability of information on the operation of individual units in the event of changes in the operational situation. Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue the dialogue on developing mechanisms for promptly informing businesses about changes in the operation of customs authorities and improving interaction procedures in crisis situations. The European Business Association thanks the management of the Kyiv Customs Office for the open and constructive dialogue and its commitment to further cooperation to ensure the continuity of logistics processes even in emergency situations.
