Advocacy successes of the week

  This week, the cooperation between the business community and the Government was particularly productive in two areas - woodworking and IT. Thus, the Government approved the list of objects not subject to privatization, which included forest enterprises, and settled issues regarding the entry of foreign citizens into the territory of Ukraine. It will be recalled that experts from the EBA Woodworking & Furniture Committee have consistently advocated for preventing privatization in the forest sector. Since forestry production is long-term, and the felling turnover amounts on average 80-100 years, only state-owned enterprises can ensure the consistency of forest management activities and adhere to the principles of sustainable forest management. The government has allowed certain categories of foreigners to enter Ukraine On August 27, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution № 757, which prohibits the entry of foreign citizens into the territory of Ukraine until September 28. At the same time, the Resolution contains a list of categories of citizens who will be able to arrive on the territory of Ukraine provided they have a confirmed purpose of the visit. We are glad that the Government has listened to the requests of the business community regarding the entry of certain categories of people. Thus, the ban will not apply to technicians who come to Ukraine at the invitation of representatives of Ukrainian enterprises. Also, citizens of Belarus, particularly IT specialists, will be able to obtain a permit to enter the territory of Ukraine upon request. We hope that the State Border Guard Service will facilitate the unimpeded entry of such citizens! The European Business Association thanks the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for taking into account the proposals and needs of the business community.
