We invite you to an online discussion on the scientific sidelines: legal challenges and solutions for Ukrainians at home and abroad

  Martial law and protection of property, civil and commercial dispute resolution, labor law, tax law The war in Ukraine became an event of a global scale. Millions of Ukrainians fled the war and moved to EU Member States; the rest remained. A huge number of legal issues have arisen in respect of labor law, real estate, housing, health care, etc. concerning the daily life of ordinary Ukrainians in the country and abroad. The discussion, which will take place on June 20, 2022, will cover pertinent issues of martial law imposed in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, special provisions of property law (forcible seizure and alienation, compensation for damages) and labor law, including restrictions on fundamental civil rights and freedoms. Particular attention will be paid to the judicial system of Ukraine, which operates during the war, as well as issues of international commercial arbitration and tax law. Speakers and topics of reports: Dr. Yurii Prytyka – Property Law Regulation under Martial Law in Ukraine (forcible seizure and alienation, compensation of damages). International Commercial Arbitration in Ukraine Today (15 minutes) Dr. Iryna Izarova – Ukrainian Judiciary and Litigation Amid War (15 minutes) Vladyslava Turkanova, PhD student at the Law School, Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – Enforcement of Judicial Decisions on the Occupied Territory in Ukraine (15 minutes) Assoc, Prof. Dr. Olena Terekh – Labor Law Regulations (restrictions of rights and freedoms of citizens under the martial law) (15 minutes) Vira Savchenko, CEO, BDO in Ukraine; DBA student Bled School of Management – Tax legislation updates in Ukraine during martial law (15 minutes) During her speech, Vira Savchenko will cover updates in the taxation system during martial law, talk about penalties and statutes of limitations during the war, the increased taxation of economic entities due to economic relations with the aggressor state and about Дія.Сітy – a special tax regime, within which preferential tax rates are valid.
