The Executive Director of the European Business Association participated in the public discussion organized by NABU

17/ 09/ 2024
The Executive Director of the European Business Association, Anna Derevyanko, participated in the public discussion organized by NABU, titled Ukraine on the Path to the OECD and Accession to the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. In her speech, the Executive Director emphasized the urgent issue of corruption for businesses. For instance, 75% of the Associations surveyed CEOs noted the negative impact of corruption on working conditions in the country, and 28% observed an increase in corrupt practices. Therefore, joining the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention is undoubtedly a crucial step welcomed by the business community. However, the details matter. According to the Associations experts, the new version of Draft Law No. 11443, aimed at fulfilling the Conventions provisions, should include adequate and effective tools to protect businesses and safeguards to prevent abuses of power by prosecution and judicial authorities. We appreciate the efforts and initiative of NABU and other anti-corruption institutions and state bodies that are taking concrete steps to combat corruption. Thank you for inviting us to this important discussion!
