OTP BANK presented to 550 orphanage schoolchildren first in their lives vyshyvankas

16/ 05/ 2025
OTP BANK JSC within the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity program implemented an initiative to purchase embroidered shirts for schoolchildren of family-type orphanages, centers for social and psychological rehabilitation of children, and special schools. For almost all the children, these were the first embroidered clothes in their lives! On May 15, on the Vyshyvanka Day, the Banks volunteers personally went to childrens institutions to congratulate the children and give them embroidered clothes. It is extremely important that these young hearts grow up with love for Ukrainian traditions, with knowledge about their native land and its history. After all, vyshyvankas were worn even during the times of Kyivan Rus, and mentions of them are contained in the Word of Igors Campaign and in the Ipatiev Chronicle. We really want to preserve this connection between generations and to give children warmth, care and love”, - told team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity project and director of retail sales and network management of OTP BANK Lesia Syrota. In total, the embroidered shirts were delivered to 20 childrens institutions. The children of one of them - the Braginets family-type orphanage - together with their guardians personally visited the Banks head office, where they received vyshyvankas from the Chairman of the Board, Volodymyr Mudryi. The total cost of the initiative was over 600 thousand UAH. You can learn more about it here. To remind, that in 2024, OTP Bank Helps Ukraine volunteers also donated embroidered shirts to children from orphanages and special schools. To read about last years project, follow the link.
