EBA Dnipro Diplomacy Hub: Vulnerability and Leadership

23/ 06/ 2021
We are usually accustomed to seeing a leader with confidence, determination and restraint. Does that mean a leader can’t share his emotions and feelings? At the EBA Dnipro Diplomacy Hub: Vulnerability and Leadership, with the speakers Mila Leonova and Viktor Melnik, we looked at the concept of vulnerability as a resource that allows to build open dialogue. According to experts, vulnerability improves and develops empathy, increases productivity, reduces stress. But first of all you have to understand why you want to share your feelings for, or why your colleague decided to share with you his problems. Hidden vulnerability is debilitating and can has a negative impact on well-being, so sometimes just being heard is a necessary need to preserve energy and strength. It doesn’t mean that all emotions should be spread to your surroundings. It is important to delineate your boundaries, explain your position and understand what is acceptable to you personally, so that communication does not become toxic. Successful leaders choosing coaching positions, interacting with colleagues, trying to discuss all important issues. This strategy makes it possible to build a relationship based on trust, not resignation and fear. Team EBA Dnipro thanks Mila Leonova and Viktor Melnik for incredibly useful leads and tips for the audience.
