Introduction of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Principles. Examples of Joint Business Projects

Following the enactment of the “Waste Management” Law, №2230-IX, Ukraine has embarked on a new stage of waste management reform, including packaging waste. The core aspect of this reform is the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles, modeled on the practices of European Union countries, where these principles have been established for many years.

Currently, the adoption of the draft law “On Packaging and Packaging Waste,” №10066, is underway, yet businesses are already actively preparing to implement EPR in Ukraine. EPR, as part of the circular economy, is the most effective way to reintegrate valuable resource components into production and, above all, the most effective means of preserving the planet from the negative impact of waste.

The European Business Association invites you to a webinar to showcase the implementation of EPR principles through a project on the separate collection of packaging waste in several communities of the Kyiv region, jointly carried out by Nestlé Ukraine and Veolia.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction of Extended Producer Responsibility principles through a joint pilot business project;
  • Implementation of the joint pilot project for the separate collection of packaging waste in three communities of the Kyiv region, a tripartite agreement, and the role of local communities;
  • Project infrastructure development and capital investment;
  • Logistics and servicing as the foundation for effective waste management projects;
  • Key project results;
  • Educational program as a logical continuation of project implementation.

Speakers:

  • Ilona Zadvornaya, Government Relations Manager at Nestlé Ukraine
  • Olga Nikulina, Project Manager at Veolia Ukraine
