In Ukraine PepsiCo will donate over UAH 25 million in response to COVID-19

08/ 05/ 2020
PepsiCo will donate more than UAH 25 million to community relief initiatives to ease the impact of COVID-19 in Ukraine. Funds provided by the company and its philanthropic arm PepsiCo Foundation will be used to support healthcare workers and the most vulnerable groups in society. Marek Tomalak, CEO PepsiCo Ukraine, “PepsiCo’s aid in Ukraine is part of the previously announced global campaign to provide over USD 45 million-worth relief to the people and local communities affected by COVID-19. In Ukraine, the company has focused its efforts on three areas – supporting medical workers and healthcare institutions, food donations for needy population, and assistance to local communities in the areas where our manufacturing facilities and logistic centers are based. The total amount of aid allocated by PepsiCo in Ukraine for these purposes will be at least UAH 25 million”. Since the beginning of the quarantine in Ukraine, the company, with the assistance of the charity foundation ‘Foodbank’, has provided to people in need almost 300 thousand tons of produced foods and beverages worth about UAH 17 million, whereas more than 200 thousand tons were dairy products and juices. Partial compensation of the logistical costs allowed this nonprofit organization to distribute food assistance throughout Ukraine without interruption. Together with its partner, the Domino’s Pizza chain, the company delivered 3400 meals for healthcare workersof the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 4. With funds allocated by the PepsiCo Foundation, the company will procure more than 16 thousand individual protection kits (overalls, masks, respirators, gloves, shoe guards) for healthcare workers. More than UAH 8 million will be allocated for these purposes. Supported by ‘Blagomay’ Charity Found, this program will also help procure specialized equipment for clinics in Mykolayiv region. Encouraging the intention of each person to help others in a difficult situation, the company launched a program of individual donations among employees. The funds raised and multiplied by the PepsiCo Foundation will be donated to support children’s homes in need of assistance during the pandemic outbreak.
