A New Lobbying and Transparent Policies Committee Launched at the European Business Association

  On July 23rd, the European Business Associations newly formed Committee on Lobbying and Transparent Policies held its inaugural meeting. Committee members discussed strategic priorities, plans, and objectives for the next six months. Key strategic priorities identified by the Committee include: Improving the legislative regulation of lobbying activities and developing solutions within the profession of lobbying as well as in related fields of law, practices, and economic sectors. Adopting and implementing successful foreign experiences from civilized countries, organizing conferences, seminars, discussions, and networking events. Establishing the Committee as a subject of professional dialogue that, among other things, contributes to the formation of a lobbying culture in Ukraine and creates a discussion platform (venue) for active communication with opinion leaders, experts, government agencies, politicians, media, etc. During the meeting, the results of the elections to the Committees Board were announced. Artem Freyuk from Kyivstar and Felix Zinchenko from DTEK were elected as co-chairs of the Committee. Regarding the immediate plans, the need to establish effective contacts with all stakeholders and relevant government agencies responsible for developing and implementing lobbying legislation was noted. EBAs Lobbying and Transparent Policies Committee members have scheduled a number of meetings for the coming months and exchanged views on the Committees priority tasks, such as the need to improve certain provisions of the Lobbying Law, which will enter into force at the beginning of 2025. Additionally, Committee members discussed the communitys long-term goals, including pro-actively participating in shaping the lobbying culture in Ukraine, disseminating best practices in lobbying, and exchanging experiences.
