Ukrainian importers resume imports of products from Germany

21/ 02/ 2025
Ukraine and Germany have agreed to apply an annex to the international certificate for the import (shipment) of milk, milk-based products, and products derived from milk to Ukraine. This has been made possible due to effective cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL) regarding the continued supply of sufficiently processed safe products. The corresponding decision ensured the implementation of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraines Resolution No. 537, which provides intergovernmental guarantees for the adequate processing of products during martial law. This allowed market operators to resume imports of sufficiently processed products from Germany to continue supplying the population with food, including baby food. The EBA expresses its gratitude to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection for its attention to business issues and for organizing a timely meeting at the EBAs request regarding the ban on importing products from Germany due to a foot-and-mouth disease case, as well as for the explanations provided.
