12/ 02/ 2018
Author: Vache Davtian - the businessman with 26 years of experience, Chief Happiness Officer and the leader of the companies «Promkabel Electrika», «Pan Elektro», the founder and the business coach of Leadership development School «LeaderWay». Why are we procrastinating, have you ever thought about it? Why we postpone the important project for later, and we hang on Facebook? Are you familiar with the sense of guilt, frustration and disappointment? Perhaps you think, that you are one-of-a-kind? Actually, it is a problem of 97% of people who live unconsciously and who instinctively run to Facebook from danger of new complicated challenges. Answers to the question why it occurs and what to do are found by neurophysiology - science about secrets of the work of our brain. We think that we control our brain. But its not so, very often the brain manages us.  Our cerebral cortex is responsible for thinking and it seems to us that exactly there decisions are made. Actually, it occurs in limbic (emotions) part of a brain. Only in 10 seconds the rational part of a brain realizes that the decision is made and explains why at midnight it is urgently necessary to eat this huge piece of a pie. How does it occur? Lets consider it in more details. Pleasure addiction: why do we ruin our lives? Most of us are addicted to different kinds of pleasure. We are chasing for the pleasure of three natural needs. In the wild nature we were fighting for food, sex and security. But now we receive all this in unlimited number. And one more portion of pleasure hormones doesnt bring happiness any more. The problem is that the hormones are split quickly and the brain gets used to it and requires more and more doses. Precipitousness in food, sex and relaxation is done at the expense of our figure, well-being and harmony. We become pleasure addicted; we live a senseless life and become unhappy people - overweight, without understanding our sense of life, drive and energy. We are destroyed as a person in a physical and spiritual sense. Cortisol: how we react to a stress? There is a food chain in nature: who eats who. On the top there are those who eat others and who has no natural enemies. A human being is in the middle of a food chain, he had many natural enemies. Therefore, he had to worry constantly about the safety. Cortisol is a hormone that is responsible for stress and when its level increases, we constantly look for danger. Even where there are none at all. 99,9 % of the danger in the wild life are already absent, but we still continue to create danger in our imagination. It makes us feel unhappy people who constantly are at war with the imagined problems. That is why we concentrate not on the pros, but on the cons. We notice our own failures and failures of others. We get used to good quickly and stop paying attention to it, keep on looking for a negative issue. This is the instinctive behavior of our brain that needs to be controlled, otherwise it is possible to reach neuroticism and depression. How to reduce anxiety? Thanks to meditation, it is possible to reduce the level of a stress by 3-5 times and to increase self-confidence. Please, try a simple meditation by Vache Davtian and also create the diary of gratitude: before going to bed write down 2-3 thanks for all good that has occurred during the day in a notebook. You have to write down also 2-3 thanks for negative and “experience” that will bring you the feeling of positive. For example, loss of money is the experience which allows to change business. To be more careful next time, in a similar situation. Dopamine: what is the reason of procrastination? Dopamine is involved when we have a desire to get pleasure. It helps us to achieve the objectives and to satisfy our basic needs for food, rest and sex. But the problem is that in the wild nature you have to fight for pleasure” since they are in a limited quantity. Well, for example, carbohydrate (sugar) шis necessary as a power source. In nature, sugar was generally found in fruits only 3-4 months in a year. Therefore, the nature forced our ancestors to eating to excess by means of dopamine to keep fatty stocks for the cold period. But we created the world of boundless access to sweets, sex and rest. And we need to limit consciously ourselves to these instincts (it is called as will power), otherwise we become fat, lustful and lazy beings who live only for the sake of basic requirements. How to achieve the objectives and not to destroy oneself? It is important to learn to distinguish pleasures that prevent from achieving the objectives. You have to to make pleasure a reward for perfectly performed important work. For example, to eat a chocolate slice after a Gold hour that was connected with work on the difficult project. How to become successful and happy? 4% of brains are occupied by a cerebral cortex, which is responsible for rational thinking. But almost all decisions are made instinctively, by emotional (limbic) part of a brain - I want sweet, lets lie or lets come into Facebook instead of working on the important project. But we have the opportunity to say no to this instinctive desire. This is the power of will, which distinguishes a successful and a happy person. And following your natural desire makes us feel weak and unhappy.

Answers to the question “why it occurs” and “what to do” are found by neurophysiology – science about secrets of the work of our brain.

We think that we control our brain. But it’s not so, very often the brain manages us. Let’s consider it in more details.

Pleasure addiction: why do we ruin our lives?

Most of us are addicted to different kinds of pleasure. We are chasing for the pleasure of three natural needs. In the wild nature we were fighting for food, sex and security. But now we receive all this in unlimited number. And one more portion of “pleasure hormones” doesn’t bring happiness any more. The problem is that the hormones are split quickly and the brain gets used to it and requires more and more doses.

Precipitousness in food, sex and relaxation is done at the expense of our figure, well-being and harmony. We become pleasure addicted; we live a senseless life and become unhappy people – overweight, without understanding our sense of life, drive and energy. We are destroyed as a person in a physical and spiritual sense.

Cortisol: how we react to a stress?

There is “a food chain” in nature: who eats who.

Dopamine: what is the reason of procrastination?

Dopamine is involved when we have a desire to get pleasure. It helps us to achieve the objectives and to satisfy our basic needs for food, rest and sex. But the problem is that in the wild nature you have to fight for “pleasure” since they are in a limited quantity. Well, for example, carbohydrate (sugar) шis necessary as a power source. How to achieve the objectives and not to destroy oneself?

It is important to learn to distinguish pleasures that prevent from achieving the objectives. You have to to make “pleasure” a reward for perfectly performed important work. For example, to eat a chocolate slice after a Gold hour that was connected with work on the difficult project.

How to become successful and happy?

4% of brains are occupied by a cerebral cortex, which is responsible for rational thinking. But almost all decisions are made instinctively, by emotional (limbic) part of a brain – “I want sweet”, “let’s lie” or “let’s come into Facebook” instead of working on the important project.

But we have the opportunity to say “no” to this instinctive desire. This is the power of will, which distinguishes a successful and a happy person. And following your natural desire makes us feel weak and unhappy.
