GOLAW Senior Partner Sergiy Oberkovych participated in the international Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2022)

06/ 07/ 2022
On July 4-5, GOLAW Senior Partner Sergiy Oberkovych participated in an international conference in Lugano, Switzerland dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is suffering from Russian military aggression. “International support for Ukraine is strong. The leaders of the European Union, Great Britain, Switzerland, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as business representatives, investors, and many other international partners of Ukraine announced ambitious plans for financing the development and restoration of Ukraine according to the best European and world standards. According to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who expressed support for the initiatives of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine will receive large-scale support from the EU through the creation of a platform for effective recovery. This platform will form strategic guidelines and priorities for identifying investment needs, coordinating actions, channeling resources, and supporting an ambitious reform agenda. The main attention of Ukraines international partners will be paid to prospective reconstruction aimed at achieving climate neutrality, building a social market economy, and guaranteeing Ukraines security and defense. The most important tasks for Ukraine, in order to justify the trust of investors and partners, are the creation of a transparent market without improper influence by oligarchs; the successful completion of judicial reform; and the continued fight against corruption at all levels. The road ahead will be a difficult one, but completing these tasks is essential to protect freedom and the future for which our Heroes are now laying down their lives,” stated Oberkovych.
