Social initiative from BDO in Ukraine on the occasion of Euro 2020

29/ 07/ 2021
Fairly recently, virtually the entire world watched with a sinking heart the virtuoso game of their favorite national teams at EURO 2020. Employees of BDO in Ukraine are no exception to this. Our interest in the championship scaled up massively thanks to useful BDO in Ukraine’s charitable initiatives, began by a group of activists and huge football fans. What was it like? All employees of the company were invited to participate in the campaign called BDO EURO 2020 (on a voluntary basis), contributing an arbitrary charitable donation for good deeds. We decided to link this social initiative to the upcoming Euro 2020 Championship. The point of the action was to assign each participant randomly to the national team of one of the countries participating in EURO 2020. Everyone made a fair share of contribution to charity. The winning employee could choose a charity fund or targeted aid to a certain person. It was an exciting and emotionally intense month, where everyone was rooting not only for their beloved Ukraines team, but also for the team, which, should it win, will enable to allocate jointly collected funds to charity. But its so nice to do good! And thus, on July 11, we revealed not only the country of the winner of EURO 2020, but also the name of the winner of our charity game — Valeria Linevich, Head of Payroll of BDO in Ukraine! Valeria comments on her victory, as well as on the selection of a charity organization: I didnt expect it, but I am the person whose team won the Euro 2020 Championship. Italy, I am proud of you! The selection of a charity organization was not easy, since children and adults need help, as well as animal shelters, and just people who are in a difficult life situation. Why it was Nikita Kryzhny whom I decided to help? Because the amount his parents need to collect for their sons treatment is USD 2.2 million. Only 1 injection and there is no complex post-treatment rehabilitation or subsequent unimaginable costs. The main thing is to make it in time now! The amount is such that neither Nikitas parents nor most foundations and organizations can afford. There are only a couple of months to raise funds, then it will be too late and the childs health will not be regained. The option remains: every little bit helps. I hope that our joint contribution will bring Nikitas quick recovery! We are also full of optimism and believe that together we will be able to help Nikita. We are grateful to our colleagues for the excellent initiative and active participation in fundraising. We are better together! We are convinced that this action will be an excellent start of such initiatives of BDO in Ukraine and we are not going to stop there. After all, the main goal of the BDO network is “People helping people achieve their dreams”, which we implement daily in all aspects of our activities.
