Business is not involved in the development of mechanisms for selling wood

25/ 09/ 2020
On August 28, the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported that the Ministry is working on amendments to the CMU Resolution №1178, which should update the mechanisms for the sale of raw wood. In early September, the representatives of the EBA Woodworking and Furniture Committee asked the Ministry to involve the EBA experts in working on such changes. However, this has not yet happened, and the Association fears that the above changes could be adopted without discussion with the business community, namely with woodworking companies - the main consumers of raw wood. The Association is consistently stressing that any changes to the work of companies should be discussed in advance with the representatives of the business community. It is unacceptable to make decisions on which the development and future of the whole industry will depend without discussing them with the representatives of the same industry. Sustainable development of the woodworking industry is impossible without the development of an optimal mechanism for the sale of raw wood to processors. Thus, the Committees experts have a number of important comments and suggestions on the content of the necessary amendments to Resolution №1178. The development of a balanced document will have a significant impact on the woodworking industry, as roundwood is the main raw material for processors and, as a rule, its price is the main component of the cost of production. Considering this, the Association insists on the mandatory involvement of a wide range of participants, including the specialists of the Association, in discussing mechanisms for the sale of raw wood, including amendments to Resolution №1178, to ensure equal conditions for all market participants and maintain the competitiveness of the woodworking industry.   Be the first to learn about the latest EBA news with our Telegram-channel – EBAUkraine.
