Working with international media: how to talk to the world about Ukraine

  On 17 April, the EBA PR and Marketing Committee held an online meeting dedicated to the topic “Navigation in working with international media”. The guest speaker was Pavlo Bilodid, Manager of Strategic and International Communications at DTEK and Chapter Leader of Ukraine at the European Association of Communication Directors (EACD). The discussion focused on how Ukrainian PR professionals can build effective and clear communication for international audiences. During the session, Pavlo emphasised the importance of understanding both the global and local context when working with foreign media. He shared an overview of key international outlets that regularly cover developments in Ukraine and gave practical advice on how and with whom to communicate to ensure “your story” is heard. The speaker also covered the following topics: How to identify target media and analyse their audiences Why it is important to pay attention not only to major media, but also to niche and industry-specific publications Which formats of cooperation with journalists are the most effective How newsjacking works in international PR Where to find journalists’ contacts The meeting was highly interactive — participants actively engaged in the discussion, asked questions, and shared their own experiences.
